The facts are though the refineries wanted to buy the town once to end all of the various issues the people had. The people though refused to sell and now they want to sue for their bad decision making. Every other industry in the area has been sued out of the area and the refinery is just about the last big employer in the area. I hope they shut the place down after the suit is over and then everyone in Roxana can be on welfare instead of just most of the people. What a dump

This is not true, my mother has lived in South Roxana for over 25 years, and she was never aproached to sell her property, and at the time she owned over 6 properties, and what other industries? refinerys is all there is. The people just want more safety regulation, and to minimize the exposure of dangerous chemicals. Your statement that everyone wants a lawsuit is incorrect, and to indicate the town to be on welfare, rather then working makes you the most delusinal person in Edwardsville IL.

Yes sure your mother wasn't...we know we know. As for other industries in the area you have got to be kidding right? There were steel operations, glass companies, and even Olin is pulling out. What about the Box Board. On and on and all of the assorted machine shops and other companies that fed products to the larger companies. There were multiple refineries too, now there is just one. That's the Madison County way. If the unions can't run them out the lawyers can.
Your the delusional one and quite frankly toots, last time I drove through South Roxana ,my thoughts everyone must have been on welfare to be living in those dumps

Owens Illinois was the biggest glass maker in the nation. You keep yacking while running your jobs away
The so called less fortunate ran their jobs away and like most Madison Countians live on welfare
Isnt the mulch plant that hires a few people evidence enough?
No big deal gumdrops...tell us how many Shell is hiring at its refinery this week?

So let me get this right, because people are poor it is okay to kill them, because people and their innocent children are ignorant of what is a better choice it is okay to kill them too......so am I to expect that you also wanna do lab experiments on the mentally ill too??? Perhaps we can send the unwanted orphans to work in the refineries, then there would be no sue happy families to deal with. You sound like you have a pretty good life, why don't you go enjoy it instead of bothering yourself with a few thousand simple minded welfare recipients painful unwanted DEATHS

No one is killing anyone. Scheech though I can see why madison County is an excellent place to sue employers though. The lack of intelligence is overwhelming

I'm just going by the doctors that testified in our lawsuit that we won......they say it is public knowledge that certain rare cancers are caused by benzene exposure......and they say that you can look up online the locations of cancer clusters

A doctor said?
A you said they said we said doctor?
One of those doctors that make their living from lawsuits?
Who cares though. You can all be happy on welfare because lets face it your stupid lawsuits ran the employers out of the area.
Well its a good thing though politicians like lbj brought in the great society programs to provide basic housing to the dummies
By the way there should be laws against the STDs passed around by the old South Roxana females,,,but to a male catching the clap is just a part of growing up

I don't live in south roxana stupid.....I never have and the doctors were the ones that treated him at Barnes......they were convinced there that there is a cancer cluster in this area due to benzene exposure from the refineries......you assume you know what is going on, and you know what they say happens when you assume

Naturally you have the citations available for the dissertations and publications of these Doctors you are quoting don't you?
I'm sure there are other Doctors that claim differently
Probably a better thing though would be for the refinery to just shut down. Illinois doesn't need the jobs because you can just go on welfare and live off the fat of the land. Take a drive through South Roxana sometime and see just how well it succeeds. I have to admit, to them its better than going to work every day

yes your right, it is better to let these companies leak their toxicity upon us without ever letting us know, just as long as they hire us and pay us off.....china has the right idea obviously because even their children work 16 hours in factories......They are already laying off our local people and getting ready to go down to skeleton crew there......so whatever we do don't make waves for the company killing hundreds and employing 30

The refineries were there before the people that live there now. The decision was theirs to move there and they did. That was not the refineries fault.
In any event as previously posted the refineries wanted to buy the whole town out but the whiners claiming assorted sentimental values wouldnt sell. My guess is the trashy people actually planned this all out looking for, in true Madison County Illinois tradition, someone to sue.
If there is a lawsuit I sure hope I get chosen for jury duty. You people don't deserve the welfare money you get much less the opportunity to destroy another company that represents the last great employer in the area

So if they wanna buy your house, and you don't sell......they don't have to fix the ground water contamination problems??? Because it is your fault.....is that the same thinking that because the indians didnt sell us their land we just took it......your the only trash around here

and if the refinery was there first, why did they allow those to live where they would be in danger?? Why didn't they buy up the land where there was a safe distance around the refinery so to avoid people being contaminated??
