We came to granite city in 1957, we were looking for a house to rent, mom and I ate lunch at a place called the big top, it was located where the us bank is located today, at the corner of nameoki rd and fehling. does anyone remember that?

for the comment asking about the grill next to the taxi stand and washington theater. It wasnt Ruths grill it was Cliffs Grill. Ruths was at the corner of 20th and State and Cliffs was at 19th and State. This was the best thread on this site!

Ruth's was directly across the street from Hudson's Jewelry store. It was next to the taxi stand in the early 80's.

I remember the Big Top. It may have been Granite City's first drive-in fast food hamburger joint and served their burgers on warmed sesame seed buns. As its name would indicate, it had a circus theme.

bigkid---Glad someone remembers the small Farm Fresh. Wasn't it a drive thru only? Just curious if my memory serves me correct.
Was it called "The Milk Store" ???
