Craving some delicious ribs, we drove to Richard's BBQ tonight. It is CLOSED and FOR RENT signs are taped on the windows. Does anyone know what happened?

They closed last weekend. The are building a new building on 276 just past 1565 across from where the old Mid-Lakes use to be. They will be open in 2 or 3 months. Now Rockwall has no decent BBQ place.

Wow that does not sound like a very good business decision. Why in the world would they move 10 miles out in the boonies there is nothing out there? I would think a business like that is all about location and connivance to get there. Like all the times I stopped there for lunch or picked up dinner on the way home. I wont be able to do that anymore.

I thought the same thing, but Fish Camp in RC is packed on a daily basis and they are hidden in the boonies. I guess if the food and service is good people will go anywhere. So if Richards is as good as people have told me they will have no problem keeping their loyal customers and gaining new ones from their new area.

Well, the new restaurant will be close enough for me to almost walk there. Sorry all you folks in Rockwall!!! When you drive out here for the good barbque, you will see that we are not in the boonies!!!!

Real BBQ restaurants are hard to find nowadays. Back in the day, you could find some pretty good places. Those were the ones that cooked with just the right kind of wood (good Texas wood like Pecan, Mesquite & Hickory) cooked just right, served fresh and the BBQ sandwich would leave a ring of BBQ juice around your mouth and on your nose. My favorite...Hickory smoked BBQ. I also like the BBQ sauce that is homemade to go with the BBQ meat flavor. I better stop, I need a BBQ sandwich now and there is no place to go!!!

Um The New Location Is Out In The Boonies, LOL Anywhere on 276 past 1565 is The Boonies. I Live There Too And There's Nothing Wrong With Calling It What It Is. I Think The Owner's Of Richards Were Wanting It to Be A More Sought Out Place. I Really Think They Will Do Great Out There Considering They Get Most Of Their Business From Catering Events. Plus The New Place Is Looking Pretty Good I Have Been Stalking It Just Waiting For It To Open Up.

To technically qualify as "boonies" there must be dirt and or gravel roads. Oh and you can't qualify if you can stand on your water tower and see a major metropolitan skyline. Now that that's cleared up I can't wait to try the place! Everyone in the barber shop was on about them yesterday. I've been driving past the place for 6 years and thought it was abandoned. We always made a joke that it was a mob front that never opened to the public. Good luck slighlty out of the way but in no way in the boonies mob boss BBQ dudes!

Okay, drove out there today (8/15). VERY hard to find, about 11 miles from 276 and 205 in Rockwall, next to Eagle Hardware (looks like a feed store). I can guarantee you they will not open before Sept., as all they have at this point is a sign and a foundation--no walls, no parking lot, no kitchen. I loved Richard's BBQ, but, with the long drive and the REALLY slow construction, I won't be having any of their food for a good while.

Just drove out there and all they have is the foundation poured and the frame partly done. It's going to be a long time before I can get some Richards bbq

So Happy to find out they are re-opening!! Will be happy to make the drive. Went to Dickeys the other day and it was 29.00 for two and and it was sooo bad. My pulled pork looked like Jerkey.

This the best bbq around. their sides are awesome also. This family is the hardest working I know. They really care about what they serve. They are a GOD loving Family that serves the best BBq at great prices. You have got to check this new location out. You will be treated to Excellence and Love.We cannot wait for Richards to open for business. They truly kick BBQ.

Well we needed a Richard's fix and drove down to Mid-Lakes on Saturday at noon. Whoops! Something must have happened. The building looks complete but empty and no signs. It's been a year and a half. We were sorely diappointed. I sure would like to put my own place in there if I knew who to call.
