Why do the police helicopters fly sooo low at night? It shakes windows in my home. And is there really that much crime in the area? Wonder how much it costs taxpayers to keep that thing in the air? It can't be cheap

There's many people who feel the same and have the same effect's as you. The Glendora area seems to be the favorite spot for these Helicopters as they often make their course then circle and circle as a routine. It's obvious they are not on a call or supporting anything other than to "make their rounds" maybe to justify the contract they have or cost they charge the various cities.

We get the idea they are just being peeping tom's with all the electronic equipment they have and/or they are training. It just makes no valid sense they have official business as often as 3 times a night 5 to 7 days/nights a week. For sure they fly way too low for routine work as the noise of the engine and blades are obnoxious just as much as the number of turn-arounds and cycles some days/nights.

Kind of makes you wonder who the city knows in Helicopter sales and/or maintenance that need the money.
Sleepless in San Dimas

I have lived in San Dimas for 36 years and I have been experiencing the disruptive flight patterns of the helicopters for at least 5 years or more. There was a time when they would fly over my house at precisely 10:15 p.m. EVERY night. After several sleepless nights I contacted the sheriff's department to inquire as to what was going on. I was told that the flights were due to mountain rescue activities. I had to laugh and told the desk person that I had never heard of so many mountain rescues nightly at the same time! I watch the news and not one incident of a mountain rescue in the San Dimas Canyon area was ever mentioned! Now the flight patterns are both day and night on a daily basis. It is so sad to have our daily routines disrupted by the loud sounds of low flying helicopters. I feel as if I am living in a war zone. I did not buy a home near an airport or helipad so it is disheartening to learn that one was imposed upon the residents of San Dimas!
