Due to the City Manger and City hall. We are losing a long time tax paying Business in the city of La Mirada. Cardial Liquor is being forced to Close there Doors and will not be Reopening anywhere in the City of La Mirada. The City Manger will not let them move to A new Location anywhere in the City. Its very sad to see them go when the City needs TAX MONEY and wants to Rase our Taxs. They should let them open any place they want. We need to keep Cardial and there Business. Every one Should Call Tom Robinson At the City hall and let him Know how you feel about loseing Cardial. After all they pay Taxes and sorport the City Sporting groups by Sponsorships.

When the billiards business applied for a full liquor permit and was denied, councilman Gabe Garcia said, "it doesn't fit my vision for the city." As I've long said, the administration's vision is Mayberry in the Andy Griffith Show. If they all had their way at City Hall, this would be a dry city. And, of course, with no fireworks and a tax hike to pay for its swimming hole.

Cardinal Liquor, Shell, Vons, California Pizza (to name a few), have all left the city recently. The city should bend over backwards (not just bend over like they have the citizens doing),to bring in and retain any business. Instead they worry about funding the La Mirada Theater and the "swimming hole". You are right on Matt, we need to kick them all out and elect some new visionaries. Not those like GG whose vision only suites him and the other cronies.

Cardial Liquor is gone. La Mirada needs to its head out of its ass.

In the Spring it will be 40 years my Mom has lived on Duffield and we have never seen this area so bad. As I continue these past 8 years to get barking dog problems resolved City Hall, Animal Control AND L.A Sheriff Dept in La Mirada continue to get nothing done. The dogs have more rights than people and some neighbors are taking matters into their own hands by hurting the animals and even though I continue to report the problems the City does NOTHING to protect the elderly, handicap or old folks. They even do nothing to protect the animals. I re registered to vote just so I can get involved with voting in La Mirada.

You Must be kidding we have every curb cut to meet ada at a huge expense to the tax payer bike lanes just to name a few. How does a dog barking problem have anything to do with the city. That is an animal control issue. No one else has authority over that as the municipal code only allows for the control of amplified noise not dog barking.

I graduated from la mirada high in 05 and Cardial liquor is where EVERYONE would go before parties, football games, and everything else because the people there sold alcohol to minors! They knew the kids were in high school and never cared since they were getting money. My friends even had their lm jackets on sometimes and still nothing. After a while it became a joke about how much people could buy and When someone asked where they got everything, it was always the same answer. There's bigger issues than may have been announced and if I had to bet money, I'd be sure part of the reason it is no longer there is because they got caught. Of course I don't know for sure, and things may have changed since then, but I doubt it. If it's something else, it may he a blessing in disguise before there's more accidents and alcohol related incidents for businesses like this not doing their job and only caring about the money.

LM doesn't need a liquor store on every corner like a ghetto. You can find it cheaper at Staters anyway.
the next target should be cleaning up that sorry Home Depot center. the owner cares nothing about maintaining the property. graffiti, non-working signage, garbage, lack of landscaping, pool hall - they all hurt the property values of the homes along los coyotes. i couldn't get away with those transgressions as a private home owner. why does this property owner get away with it?

the LM/Imperial intersection looks just like any intersection in the 'hood. never thought it would happen in our city.

I agreed with you on maintaining property values until you inferred to get rid of the "Pool Hall". And I have never been there. Let's just replace everything YOU DON'T LIKE with churches, Hello Kitty Stores and ice cream parlors. Better yet start a petition to bring back prohibition.

no we'll do it your way:
legalize marijuana and allow this generation of tattoo-wearing, nipple/belly/tongue-pierced, flat-bill wearing, tramp-stamped leeches run things.

game on.

game on...what are you an 8th grader. The problem I have with your previous post is that you singled out one company "the pool hall". There are a lot worse shopping centers and businesses then the "Home Depot Center" particularly Marshall's and Pep Boys. The problem is that most of these shopping centers have more then one owner and as long as they keep to THE MINIMUM of cleanliness there isn't much the city can do about it. BTW I have no tattoos, piercings and don't smoke pot but there are many that have and do that will end up being productive members of our society. The same thing was said by our parents about us and our grandparents about our parents. Are we still playing the game?

Where did this thread go south? I thought we were talking about the city Council that panders to BIOLA and forgets about the rest of the owners, residents and the businesses in our community.....did I miss something?

I still wish they would allow an asian jack shack at the crossroads center. I would be so worth it!

I hate to be a city fan, but the have done well with down turned economy and having the state raid their coffers, and yet we are still working on building a better La Mirada. I am all in this is my home. I can either complain about stuff or fix it.

We need more asian jack shacks.

That would totally spruce up our city.
