Well yes...to send them to jail....or (if a newspaper) to avoid being sued. But this is a public forum that doesn't need government rules telling us what we can or can not say. Many on this public forum bring information you will NEVER see in a newspaper (for whatever reason). The purpose of a public forum is to provide a venue for those who which to speak their piece.let's remember, these people still have to be tried in court.
I don't believe it's correct to try to muzzle (replace with any word you like) any person from speaking their mind, no matter if you agree or not. In a court of law, I agree, it's a different story.
A while back here someone defended a convicted thief in similar words but my comment was that, unlike a court of law, we could make reference to his lifelong history and how only a small percentage of his crimes were what he had been convicted for. You can't say this in a court of law but in the court of public opinion you can say anything you please....it's beautiful. We never got back any kind of rejoinder, because they didn't have a leg to stand on...., in this court of public OPINION.
So please try to keep the two courts seperate in your mind. Thanks.
