Agreed. The senile gives an anti-pesticide activist the last word.

I am so glad we have such a respected research scientist as yourself to set us all straight. One question: is there any evidence, any evidence at all, that would convince you of a connection between pesticides and learning disabilities? This is an honest question. I actually want to know if you would be able to be convinced by any science, ever, even if this study leaves you...less than convinced.

Well I have a few thoughts:
1. This study fails to even show a statistically robust correlation between ADHD and pesticide exposure.

2. Where was the control group?

3. Even if there were a correlation, correlation does not mean causation.

But hey, print a shock headline reporting unsubstantiated claims to demonize chemicals that are responsible for improving people's lives if you want to.

Can the researcher document that low income/obese children had lower levels of pesticides in their systems, as it is claimed that low income/obese children eat less fresh fruits and vegetables and are less likely to eat the more expensive organic varieties?

The conclusions of this research cannot be right, ipso facto, as they are at variance with my pre-convceived prejudices. I will simply stick my fingers into my ears and sing "God Bless America" until all these eco-commie terrorists just shut up and go away.

Fair enough folks. You can pay twice as much for organic food if you want to. Just keep in mind that you are being exposed to thousands of natural carcinogens and other natural poisons everyday.

This is pretty funny. As a PhD environmental chemist, I was trained not to have preconceived notions. Perhaps it is the organic farmers and "eco-commies" whose motives should be questioned given that they have a financial stake in demonizing the use of FDA and EPA approved pesticides. Pesticides that keep the price of food affordable.

In this year of 2010, with so many non-toxic, or less toxic alternatives, I can't believe people are STILL poisoning themselves. True that there are already potentially harmful substances in our environment, but why add to it? Mother Nature is an amazing system if you try not to alter it too much. As an organic grower, a lot of my "crime fighters" are beneficial insects and the likes. Perhaps if more people chose to eat foods grown with non/less toxic, the price may decrease. I like one of the rules in the book, "Food Rules"..."Pay more, eat less". Seriously, this applies to household cleaners as well. Some water, vinegar, a few drops of tea tree oil: cleaner. To each his own.

Did not read much of this other than the title. The way I see it Most producers of any products lie and buy there way into acceptance with the F. D. A .And the A. M. A We did not have all these problems before they started playing with our food. That alone should speak volumes.

Like all ASD'S its a world wide phenomenon and can't be explained by genetics or obesity or pesticides because it occurs in areas with no obesity, pesticdes and genetic explanations don't support the increase in numbers. A common denominator is at work. A common denominator that bring multi-billion dollar profits each year and get government protection from lawsuit. It not only fits, but parental reports and eyewittness accounts tell it all. Vaccine makers call it all a coincidence. Hundreds of thousands of coincidences. Vaccines cause coincidences. They blame genetics although only 3-20% of autism cases can be linked to inheritance. That leaves from 80 -97% not linked genetically.

Correlation seems a good place to astart. Its not as if there's nothing to go on. Meybe altering parameters or delving deeper. But to say correlation doesn't equal causation sounds dumb because it implies you are way off the mark. Its an overused, illogical response and it up there with " I FORGOT" or " THE DOG ATE MY HOMEWORK"
