All this talk about how we need to pay our coaches and how we should do this and that cause the teams and clubs down the street have better competitive organizations. look at how great we do with what little everyone on here claims we have. Everyone is so caught up in what everyone else is doing, sorry to tell you all Lmsa is concerned with being the best WE can be ! Not copying what every other league does. We have one of if not the best Rec programs around, which is probobly one of the reasons our surrounding areas have such good club teams. As our competitive side of the club continues to grow and improve having this great Rec side will be shinning star. Anyone who knows anything about any team sport should know that having a good farm system is essential. We don't pay the coaches because we don't need to. I'm sure if you ask bob you'll find that there's a stack of applications from qualified coaches wanting those spots and calls from all over the area people wanting to bring teams to LMSA. With the new BOD I Gaurantee you'll see a huge improvement league wide

No,. Are you? Don't push LMSA to have a special exemption so that Dave can coach and be paid by using the teams record as the basis of your argument. Nothing stated talked about the quality of the trainer by the coach.

Dave can be a paid trainer of any of the LMSA teams. There just needs to be a Licensed coach to be at all the games and mange the funds. Separation of the decision making and cash. The trainer can be hired by the team separately.

It would be nice to have one or two LMSA teams with High School players. Again there are parents that are capable of being the head coach and just use the HS coach to train.

You guys already burned that bridge
A high quality, CIF championship coach and you treat him line some wanna be Mom/Dad rec coach

You guys screwed the pooch on that one.

Too bad, there was so much potential for entire league development if that had been handled right.

Yeah, LMSA MIGHT get a good mom/dad coach once in a while but but to bring the entire program up you needed some like the HS coach

The high school coach knew the rules before hand and decided to take a back route to getting paid thinking no one would notice and there's no reason to make an exception for ANY one coach. The minute you bend a rule for one person the next one is in line right behind them expecting the same treatment. That shouldn't happen in any organization. Whether the rule or regulation is right or not its still a guideline that needs to be followed to maintain order and consistency. Obviously him being the local HS coach could affect players future but the fact is if this experience stops or affects him from picking up Lmsa players for LMHS regaurdless of talent then what does that say about him as a coach? Being the HS coach it shouldn't matter one bit who, what when or where a player comes from. It's best player or the team.

Merry Christmas everyone. Here's hoping Santa comes early to help change the BOD and their silly rule for non paid head coaches. We can all say LMSA BOD has been more naughty than nice this year.

Silly Rule?
on top of that one I would like to see the minimum play time and Residency Rule either adjusted or elimanated. Club is Survival of the fitest......i would like my kids to potentially reach higher playing levels on the same rules all clubs use. True competetive equality is not true with these restrictions. selfish is to care more about LM kids then any kid who loves the sport and wants to come. Simply raise the fees for non residents.
bylaws can change until we commence an action it wont happen on its own.

Or maybe it is the other way around. Thank you LMSA for correcting the error in allowing one coach to skirt around the rules. The silly rule has been in place for 6 years since the league was formed. Maybe it will be changed but then the trainers would have to be under the boards control instead of each teams control. I don't think that is better. I believe the team knows what is best for them.

Most teams on the girls side ended up using paid trainers last year and that doesn't look like it is going to change. This was the only team that operated with a phantom coach. In the defense of the coach he always said he was doing it for the money. No surprises with him. Teams are always looking for trainers and he does have to opportunity to train other teams next year. He has an opportunity to make the added income by working with other teams as well.

One of the parents can step up and form the team. LMSA BU19 has done it for the last couple of years. All you need is one E licensed parent that will be at all the games. Not that difficult. 2 days of classes. If you really cared you would just do it! Stop wining.

One last note: it would be nice to have a gu19 team come back, but the ball is in the parents court so someone step up it you really care.

You need to understand that we are here for the kids of La Mirada PERIOD

If we can get the right trainers at the earlier ages we will have a great program for years to come.
Why have kids on the rosters if they aren't going to play?

Having paid coaches has zero affect on quality. You can have the same E ,D or higher license and neither requires you receive a paycheck. I would argue the that a coach with the same experience and qualifications that's willing to do it for free is way better than someone in it for the money. Every Lmsa team has the oportunity to hire and pay any specific or special type trainer they want for whatever the needs of the team are. So you can't possibly argue that the kids aren't receiving good coaching or training. Getting a check doesn't make you any better than not getting one. Any of our Lmsa coaches can search around and find a coaching gig nearby that pays but they don't. They stay and donate their time cause they have a vested interest and truly care about the kids of Lmsa and that dedication is absolutely PRICELESS !

To a small extent you are right. But they stay here for their own kid. Not the betterment of LMSA.

Anyone who understands what it takes to develop a quality CLUB program knows it starts with a club wide training and development program.

Till LMSA works toward that it will not be doing what is best for LM soccer players. It will only be doing what's best for certain coaches.

We are currently working toward expanding and improving on not only our league wide player training but especially our coach training by brining in qualified coaching instructors from both cal south and members of the ODP. To do both regular clinics and possibly licensing courses here in our own backyard. The new BOD is expanded and of full of new motivated members to give Lmsa more opportunity to work on improvements not just maintaning. Someone earlier mentioned the" BOD taking steps back " just not true. The league is still fairly new but it's been improving every year in all areas. LmSA will prolly never be the best club league around but that's not our primary focus, but that doesn't mean our teams won't continue to ocasionally whoop up on some of those teams that pay an arm n leg for "quality" coaches and high league fees.

Without residency there would not be club level teams in LM. Without play time there wouldn't be enough LM players staying if play time is cut. We can't afford to drive LM players off the teams and try to replace them every year. You don't develop sitting on the bench.

of course.....
But be content that the product for olders u13 boys and girls have topped out. its the U12 and youngers that LMSA should focus on.
that talent is still here
The olders flew the coop when Club was not an option.
So theres talk of some changes for the olders ?
wondering what was discussed?
these coaches are in there last years u14's and up.
had club came before signature we might be enjoying some Silver Elite teams by now maybe gold.
but cant cry over spilled milk.

This is a great time for these Silver bound teams to shine. Because next state cup they wont be governors division. Unless they have a two win season in silver and petition to play down. Close to a Hundred teams in some age groups . Im wondering how teams get bracketed?

BRACKETING RULES

5.6.1. The first year of State Cup Presidents Division (Under 9) and Governors Division all ages, there will be a State blind Draw.
5.6.2. For the second and each year thereafter the following Draw pattern is used:
5.6.2.1. In the Under 10 and above age brackets the top 16 teams from the previous yearÂ’s State Cup will be seeded by a seeding sub-committee with approval by the State Cup Committee. If a team has changed their Club affiliation since last year, or if team has changed their team number or made a change to their name, Cup Committee must be notified of these changes.
5.6.2.2. There will not be two Round-of-16 teams from the previous year placed in the same bracket unless there are fewer than 16 State Cup brackets.
5.6.2.3. If there are fewer than 16 brackets, no two Quarterfinalists from the previous year can be placed in the same bracket until every bracket has a Quarterfinalist.
5.6.2.4. The second Draw will be a blind Draw of the remaining State Cup teams to complete the State Cup brackets, placing e

Does look like a nice match up with SCDSL north champion in our first week bracket pairings. Also a few teams from San Diego. if the weather stays nice could be great weekend in January.
Two teams advance hope to be one of them.
