The Statement from the City ARE FALSE, they have laid off 5 employees. Parks and Facilities Maintenance have the fat to trim but were not affected.

The City has Assistant Managers, Larry Stevens position is funded by the now defunct Redevelopment, but they saved his job.

One of the reasons their in the situation there in is the restoration of the Walker House and rebuilding of City Hall. The story they share with the citizens and how the actually funded those projects SHOULD BE AUDITED

This lay off was personal and vindictive, REMEMBER CITIZENS NEXT YEAR IS VOTING SEASON LOOK AND SEE WHICH COUNCIL SUPPORTED THE LAY OFFS, you will see the loss of maintenance and response times to your concerns shortly.

San Dimas the Truth
Letís start with the recent layoffs, forget what was stated by the City Manager. The truth is that the City lost revenue of over $800,000.00, the company that generated this revenue moved out of state. The City actually made the adjustments to their budget last fiscal year, the company did not move until this year which How did San Dimas make the adjustments to their budget last fiscal year, they renegotiated the contact with the Sheriffsí Dept. What was the outcome less, patrols , the actual facts were never shared.
City employees were ready to take a 5% cut in pay, and 40 hours a year in furlough days, plus additional financial responsibility for their benefits. But no one cared to listen.

Redevelopment Funds are frozen and the City just submitted a check for $1.2 million to the State. But the layoffs only scraped the surface of employees that positions were paid by Redevelopment funds. The City employs 2 Assistant City Managers, one for Human Resources and the other for City Development. Let study these facts:
Ken Duran: responsible for Human Resources and Risk Management, employed with the City 30 + years, College Degree No, raised in San Dimas but now lives in Chino Hills
Larry Stevens: responsible for Planning and Development. This position was tailor made for Larry when he threatened to leave the City years ago. Salary completely paid by Redevelopment funds. Over 35 year of employment, his salary is higher than Ken Duranís?
Letís proactively look at his future focus. At the corner of Bonita and San Dimas Ave, he wants to purchase the Chevron Gas Station property to build a park to compliment the Walker House. Gas Station = Revenue, Park = Cost of Maintenance. Build a park with no parking available? Lets look into the Walker House, City reports there cost of $7 million, try $12 million,

The City should have offered (or laid off) Larry and let the Development Manager take over the responsibilities, But Larry saved himself and laid off the Development Manager.
Larry secretly runs the City, all staff including the Mayor and City Council are afraid of him. I wonder what he has on the City ? Have you ever watched a Council Meeting and seen how Larry addresses the City Manager, City Council and Mayor, watch it sometime its unbelievable.
Letís look at who benefited from the layoffs.
Larry Stevens: Saved his own job (laid off Development Manger) he also laid off one of his assistants also paid with Redevelopment funds, but kept one, what does she do ?? good question?
Ken Duran: Laid off City Clerk (forced retirement) Ken and the Assistant City Clerk have been harassing her for years (ask anyone) See Council member Bertone for the true story
Karon DeLeon Facilities Maintenance Manager: in the past 3 years she has increased her Facilities Maintenance Staff from 2 to 4. duties, changing light bulbs, light plumbing, painting etc. and the Walker House maintenance which was the pretense on how she obtained additional staff?

Other News: This year Employee Henry Perez attacked another employee, the employee that was attacked has been reporting Henry's violent behavior for years. there is a no tolerance policy on Violent behavior, maybe Ken should be Educated on that, what about Henry, he is also a alcoholic who was allowed to work without a drivers license ? Where is Henry now ? in prison for the attack.
The Parking Enforcement Supervisor, one of Ken Duranís people, also moonlights as a Reserve Sheriff, sometimes he is working on both clocks at the same time,

An analyst organization should be retained to review how business is conducted.

I guess you would rather live in a city such as Hawthorne or Lawndale? Maybe you don't want the preservation of the city you live in? Or how about working their jobs and see if you can even make it through an 8 hour work day?#rabblerabblerabble

Larry Stevens is a fat, lazy, slob. Virtually every lawsuit the City has dealt with can be traced back to Mr. Stevens behavior or lack of cooperation. He should retire or get hit by a bus.

Wow. I actually have to agree with Bureaucrat, Larry is horrible, ask any new business that has tried to receive its permits after timely submittal (e.g. The Habit, Panera Bread, or any developer). The City Council is made up of Grouchy Old White Men, who have no independent thought of their own. No Women. The City Manager "Blaine" is a spineless mute. Larry may have molested him early on. Meanwhile, economic prosperity has jumped over the City of worthless antique stores, thrift shops, and crappy cuisine.
Unfettered Discretion is all a common theme in this City. One day soon, the City will be undertaken by very angry citizens who will demand change.
