Would greatly appreciate any opinions as to neighborhood safety. I am a 66 yr old woman who will be moving to a senior citizen apartment complex in La Mirada in order to live closer to my family (however, they do not live in and are not familiar with La Mirada). I presently live in a senior apt complex in south San Diego and will be moving to one of the following addresses in La Mirada next spring: 16000 Grayville Drive or 15811 Alicante Rd, or at a senior complex on the corner of Hillsborough Dr and Beach Blvd. Are those three addresses in very good neighborhoods where I will feel safe taking walks during the daytime and living alone at night? What area of La Mirada is considered by most residents to be the safest and nicest? Your opinion will be sincerely appreciated. Thank you.

All the areas that you listed are nice and safe. La Mirada is a nice city with a lot of senior activities. There are local markets near by and a shuttle bus that is provided by the city that will pick you up and take you around town. I think you will love living here.

You have no idea how good it makes me feel and what a relief it was to read your reply, especially after just having read so many of the messages that were posted to a previous topic on this board entitled "La Mirada has a big gang problem". I'm so glad you took the time to respond to my question. Thank you.

I grew up in La Mirada on Alicante Road right across the street from La Mirada Regional Park. My parents are retirees and are still residing in my childhood home. They feel very safe and the neighborhood is very quiet and also home to many LA and Orange County sheriff and firefighters.
It's truly a peaceful bubble in the midst of the LA and Orange County area. God Bless!

They live up to their almost "fairy-tale" name.

The tract that is called "Story Book Homes" because of their architecture, is the nicest place in La Mirada.

East of Carmenita - north and south of Foster Road. And the schools are the best the NLMUSD.

As nice as the district schools are - an unprecidented opportunity is available.

The Low Alamitos school district is advertising interdistrict permit application K -10. This is one of the Nation's best school districts. Their averaged district score score is 300 POINTS higher than Norwalk High School.

LM has one of the lowest crime rates in L.A. county. Very safe and quiet neighborhoods. The area by Foster Road school and St. Paul church are not very good, but not true ghettos or barrios, still better than most bad areas. The elementary and middle schools are very good (800-900 APIs), and the high school is pretty good (better schools in the area, though, like Sonora); but you know, if the parents do their job, kids will excel anywhere. LM is like a small town in the middle of the L.A. suburbs, everyone seems to know everyone. That can be good and bad! Very diverse population, mainly white and hispanic, with quite a few asians and some blacks and others. Money magazine ranked it the 3rd best place to live in the state a few years ago, 30th or so in the nation. Good, solid place.

Hillsborough is where you want to be.
Nice homes in a gated community.
Keeps the Jehovah Witnesses from coming to your door and annoying the living F*(& out of you ever two months.

Hillsborough area such as the Hillsborough Collection, The Manors, The Heights, The Knowles, and The Landmark Homes are the best places. They are each by Behringer park as well which is a very nice baseball and softball area. I was raised in this area and very grateful that I was. Also the high school, LMHS, doesn't have the best reputation but it is actually much better than it is given credit for. In my graduating class alone, we had 90% of us moving on to some form of college (this is a HUGE percentage, very rare) and 3 of which moved on to Ivy leagues including Harvard, Yale and Brown. A very great place for sports as well, the recreational facilities are wonderful and there are so many different activities, teams and classes available for citizens of all ages. There is a large program called Positive Alternatives that has been a key element of the schools and in teaching students to be good citizens, work hard, and stay away from crime and drugs. It is honestly a wonderful place to raise a family or just live peacefully. Dulles is a good elementary school. Los Coyotes Middle school is the most wonderful school and the closest to the Hillsborough area.

La Mirada has a large senior citizen community. In addition to the three buildings listed in the post there are two other large senior buildings as well as the large 1970's Landmark community of condo's located just behind the Alicante unit.

Senior meals are served at the community center and the Dial-aRide will take you to doctor appointments and nearby shopping areas in La Habra.

Street crime is very rare and it is safe to walk the neighborhoods at night near any of the three units you have indicated.

The Grayville development is the closest of the three to grocery shopping and local services.

We live in the neighborhood of LM Creek Park. We absolutely love it and feel super blessed. The park is beautiful, super convenient and never crowded by unpleasant people. All the neighbors look out for one another. We couldn't have picked a better spot!:)

GREAT TOWN TO LIVE IN. I've lived in LM for about 15 years, and there is nothing I can complain about. It's one of the few towns left that has a great community. The Creek Park area is my favorite. Horse property and most original owners of their homes. You wouldn't be disappointed to move to LM!:)
