Why jump into this pit of snakes? why advertise a website that has more typos and grammatical errors than my 5 year old makes when writing a fairy tale... why make yourself sound arrogant. I dont expect Obama to run in La Mirada, but can we at least get a candidate with hair on his nuts who didnt have everything handed to him..?

I do hope that someone comes out and explains to some reporter or paper what really took place that night. Minor accident...I don't think so. two cars besides his car were involved. He didn't brake just slammed into one car which pushed that car into the other car so hard that the car went up and damaged the tailgate. Hmmmm they call that minor.
The first car has got to be totaled. I think he is getting preferental treatment. They are sugar coating this !!
It's funny how they don't mention he got arrested one or two blocks away because he took off walking, even there was people standing in front of his car he still tried to take off, luckily he was not able to because the tire was bend inward and there was 2 cars that got hit damage.

Does anybody think that Mr. Garcia's relationship with Norwalk Sheriff's Captain Maxwell will have an effect on the report and ultimate outcome of this event? I think there is a major conflict of interest in having the Norwalk-La Mirada Sheriff's handle this investigation. Something like this should be handled by the CHP. See the attached link:

Don't know his history, didn't know he was mayor until the next day but the fact is he did try to get into his car and try to take off but was not able to, so he got off and walked away from the accident. Only he knows why he reacted that way. I don't think he should resign or get fired, but he can take this as a example and make it into something positive, that it only takes one bad choice because he thought he could make it from point A to point B without a problem or hitting anything can happen to even him that is against drinking and driving. Hope the best for all parties involved.

Gabe Garcia is a good man with a good family. He has raided two wonderful children. Lets face it...There but for the grace of God go every one of us at one time or another. Lets let Mr. Garcia deal with this privately. He made a mistake. Now...if you yourself have never made a mistake, by all means...judge away....
By the way, heis right to not want so many bars and liquor stores in La Mirada. There is one on every corner!!

Why has he said that he only had wine at dinner when he was at Marisa's at 4:30 pm that day with a buddy drinking beers?

True ! But why did he say he was on his way home when the accident was nowhere near his home. Was he that intoxicated that he didn't know his way home?? Don't lie.. Tell the truth!

Drunk driving kills and injures thousands or people every year. All law enforcement agencies have adopted very tough attitudes and the courts have imposed severe penalties. All of this in an effort to curb the cause of death and maiming of innocent people. Yet here we have the leader of our fine city choosing to drive drunk! Can you imagine if he had injured a child or a pedestrian versus just bending some metal? The mayor knew it was wrong to drive while impaired yet he chose to do it anyway. We simply cannot allow the elected leaders of our city to continue in office after displaying such poor decision making skills. Resign now Mayor or face the public humiliation you deserve.

And you may be right. But who cares about the political office. This is someone's life people are judging. Let's hope he gets the help he needs without taking so much joy in anothers misfortune.
My only point about political office is that you are held to a different standard in the eyes of the public. And DUIs are not good for the position. But yeah, I hope he straightens himself out.

When you hold public office, you give up most of your right to dealing with problems privately. That's common knowledge. No one's perfect, we all make mistakes. But what we lose is subjective to what we have. He has a high profile, so his issues are going to be out there for all to see.

AHahahahaha, he wasnt charged with hit and run since he exchanged info with the damaged car owners before trying to WALK HOME BEFORE THE COPS SHOWED UP! AND HE"S A RESERVE OFFICER IN ORANGE!
He says he "made a mistake" How many times do people drive drunk before being caught? He would be the most unlucky guy in the world to get caught the first time out. And imagine how drunk he had to be for them to get him that long after the fact, have him pull out his Mayor and fake cop ID and _still_ get arrested.

LA MIRADA - Mayor Gabe Garcia addressed his arrest for drunken driving at Tuesday's City Council meeting, where one member of the audience member called for his resignation.
He has also been put on paid administrative leave as the director of Parks and Community Services in the city of Corona, said City Manager Brad Robbins, while officials investigate the incident.
Garcia, 49, apologized to his family, colleagues and the community, for the incident.
"I made a mistake," he said. "I am working through legal and personal issues."
During public comments, La Mirada resident John Sarega demanded Garcia resign his seat, and withdraw his name from the March council election.
He is the father of council candidate Andrew Sarega.
"You failed us," John Sarega said. "You chose to do what is illegal."
He accused Garcia, who was first elected to the council in 2009, of hit-and-run.
Andrew Sarega, 25, said he was not aware of what his father said at the council meeting, but insisted that the elder Sarega was speaking on behalf
of himself.
"My father spoke of his own convictions as a citizen of La Mirada," Andrew Sarega said in a phone interview Thursday.
Still, he does not condone the actions of Garcia.
"As a public servant,(Garcia) should be held to a higher standard," Andrew Sarega said, "and he does such a disservice to the city by his actions."
Capt. Patrick Maxwell, who was on patrol the evening of the incident, and responded to the incident, disputed the hit-and-run claim.
"At this point in the investigation, the circumstances do not indicate a hit-and-run," he said.
"Prior to leaving the scene,(Garcia) exchanged the appropriate information with the owner of the vehicle," said Maxwell, who transported and booked Garcia on suspicion of misdemeanor drunken driving.
"He received no special treatment, and was very cooperative," Maxwell said of Garcia.
Two cars were "moderately" damaged, while Garcia's car was "undriveable," he added.
Deputies found Garcia on foot several blocks from the scene.
The incident has not yet been sent to the district attorney's office, Maxwell said, but a court date has been scheduled for April 11.
In a phone interview with this newspaper the day after his arrest, Garcia admitted that he drank wine with his dinner before driving home.
Garcia has also notified the Orange Police Department, where he is a reserve officer, of his arrest.
He is not sure of his status since the OPD assignment is voluntary, Garcia said, and officials have not notified him.
Calls to the OPD were not returned.

Public work Director for La Mirada, Steve Forster put on administrative leave after sexual relationship with the wife of one of his worker.
Great job Steve, What a honor to have you work for La Mirada. Please take Mayor Garcia with you, he can get them drunk and you screw them. What a team you can form together.
