Stalker case leads to lawsuit against St. Bruno, principal and archdiocese

Feb 22, 2013 Full story: Whittier Daily News 1,303

The stalker of the principal of St. Bruno School made reservations for a wedding at the parish, with an extravagant Hawaiian style lei and a photographer in an attempt to lure the principal into a fake ceremony, according to a lawsuit filed against the school, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the school principal.

How juvenile to write such a thing. Who is this? A student who just graduated? A former teacher or staff? There were some mature comments from several people up to this point. Grow up!

St. Bruno's Sucks!!!!! That school is a joke! And all the parents telling you otherwise either work there or are getting their tuition for free! Period.
Seek your truth through the papers and media links that were posted. Principal hasn't called you back? Hmmm... That should tell you right there what your walking in to.

Hey Kids Stuff.... Who are you? Of all the posts you attack this one? Why? Because you have nothing intelligent to bring to the table.

What were the mature comments? And please do not tell me they were from "Sunshine".

Bottom line... Whether a parent is a past SB parent or a parent who has chosen to stay at SB, it is important that they inform NEW and/or prospective families to do their research! These are their kids and they need to know what they are getting into. Shame on ANY parent who doesn't do research on the schools they put their children in. I'm sure you always do your research on cars, homes, doctors, jobs, etc... So why wouldn't a parent do the same, if not more, when it comes to the education and safety of their children. It's embarrassing to read how some of these supporters are trying to convince new parents to "look the other way" and not listen or read what is on this blog because there are "ugly people" on here spreading lies, but yet they seem to be on here every minute ready to attack anyone who tries to explain or enlighten these new parents about hat has transpired this past year.

I am one of those parents, after many months of hoping for a positive change for the children, decided that everything we loved about St. Bruno's (and we have been a part of The SB family for over 30 years) was gone. The stalker was the beginning of many mishaps, but by far for me, the constant changes and teachers playing musical chairs provided an instability for my child! My child, along with many others, suffered with their education with the sudden changes... And parents were never informed. The only way I found out about someone new teaching was from my child. That is unacceptable! So many changes were never addressed and when admin was asked about it, I would only receive a "Ms. Carvalho will address the matter soon" and "some parents have also voiced their concerns and it will be addressed soon". I'm still waiting for a phone call or a letter.

When we decided to start looking at other schools (and we toured many schools), every school was an open book! Open door policy!!! Very refreshing. We are very much aware of who is teaching our children, what their educational background is, their credentials... And each teacher has emailed me personally to introduce themselves and what to expect for the upcoming year. The teachers used to do this at SB... Up until last year. Last year I couldn't get a decent explanation about any of the new teachers. Wonder why? I have also talked to many families to get their thoughts and opinions.... I understand no school is perfect, no administration is perfect BUT when I ask a straightforward question, I get a straightforward answer. At SB, a lot of "passing the buck" and back peddling and hiding became the norm. Be careful about who you want around your children 7 days a week. There are a handful of "supporters" who are very unprofessional, "loud", and walk around campus "bullying" parents who were voicing their opinions. It was almost like they took anger of these concerned parents very personally. The dirty looks and bad talk was what they used to intimidate parents! Just sad to think that my child was around that.... Hopefully SB can recover in a couple years and get back the reputation it once had, BUT to leave my child amid all the destruction, changes, and unstable admin would have been detrimental!

The people who keeps posting... Oh it's a wonderful school and all negative people are gone and "God is good" is from a handful of people left at school. Definitely the principal and her side kick, the parents turned teachers who are getting free tuition at St. Bruno or other high schools. And all the the others who are getting something for free but are definitely a slave of the school. Slaving over bingo, carnival, fish fry and repairing broken stuff at school. Free tuitions = slaving. Nice trade off! Must feel great being pee-ons! You stink!

Parents, do your research and get the court transcripts.
Sunshine, tell the families about the hearing coming up on September 16th. Parents, do your research it is public information.
Sunshine, don't forget to tell the families to get everything in writing from the principal.
Parents, If she has nothing to hide she shouldn't mind putting things in writing. Try getting her to answer questions in a public forum if she has nothing to hide she shouldn't mind answering.
If you try it then you'll see for yourself and make your own decision.
Parents, don't listen to all of us Do your Research.
How can I get the court transcripts, please?

The transcripts are available for every parent in the office. Please go to the office and ask for them. The principal keeps copies so parents with questions, who want to get the facts, can read them or get a copy. Very transparent contrary to what your are reading on this blog.

This "Sunshine" person has to be a joke. No one could be that ignorant or hypocritical . How could a person be so mean and then end their comment with "God is good?" So pathetic!
"What a joke"...is not the mean or ignorant person. Yes, God is Good. Sunshine is positive. "What a joke" is negative. "What a joke" is pathetic as seen in all her (LF) posts.
Sunshine is not mean just stating an opinion contrary to your opinion. Now if you are child that would seem mean, but if you are an adult, you wouldn't read it that way.

Understand that the principal is not going anywhere. She is the head of the school. You left because you believed in a few lies from unprofessional teachers. Those teachers are gone. The school is heading towards great success. Don't hate on that or the people that are still at the school.

With the bad behavior of some of the parents and teachers, it was wonderful to have someone to help with improving policies at the school. Everything the "security officer" did was in the best interest of the school. Because of the "security officer" great effort was made at the school to prepared for any emergency.

Vendetta? Who am I hurting? I asked what happened to the "security guard." A very prominent person at the school and then gone! No vendetta, just a question. If it was so "wonderful", what happened?

The school office only has transcripts from one hearing. They don't like the other transcripts so they won't give you those. With the case number you can call the court reporter and she'll give you copies for a small fee. The fee is worth knowing the truth. Remember, the office will only tell you what they want not you to know.

With all due respect, St. Bruno is a private school and its a privilege for any child to attend. You have a choice to withdraw your children. You have no obligation and if you have doubts about the stability of the school, you should probably seek another school for the peace of others who trust the changes and consider the school very stabile for the new year. We just want peace and families staying to keep an open mind with the conflict put in the past. No disrespect intended by my comments.

Unfortunately when you start of with "all due respect" it sets a condesending tone to your message. I have been in enough executive settings to know what "with all due respect means"...In regards to it being a privilige...well as a Catholic i have never seen an education in a Catholic school as a privlidge...it is a duty we owe our children. But i do see how quick you are to dismiss myself and my family from Saint Bruno's just because we as parents have some questions. That is truly disapointing...we are new and just wanted some clarification....I did not see the crime in asking some questions. I guess we should reconsider our decsisons..

You definitely misinterpreted my comments. I'm a parent too and all I am trying to say is that those of us that have chosen to remain at St. Bruno and trust the administration want peace and a new beginning. Last year was a nightmare for my children and friends I have had for years in this community. We were divided and now it's time to heal. Attending St. Bruno is not owed to any family because we are Catholics, it is a choice for our children to receive a Catholic education and we must do our part as parents to be Christian in our conduct. Last year there were some parents that were not acting Christian. This year, we would like the community to re-build in a Christian environment. I will not get into a debate with you and you will probably be offended by these comments, but please give our children a chance for a new beginning but keeping adult concerns between adults and not expose our kids. Hopefully you will get a meeting with the principal to address your concerns. My family is looking forward to a brand new school year free of adult drama. I will not respond to any further comments. Good luck to you and your children.
