What the hell is going here. All the vacant homes are being taken over by Mexicans that can't speak English and are living here as if they were back home in their border huts. The houses are full of trash and cars all over the place. Come on City Of La Puente get off your asses and look around, there's alot of work that needs to be done around here.

Your posting here shows how unintelligent you really are. I'm a Caucasian, I live in La Puente. We have many races here. Not all speak English and not all have clean yards and driveways. To point at Mexicans only, is unfair. There is just as much White trash as any other trash. It's the people, and the ecomony doesn't help either. Yes indeed, Code Enforcement should help. Go get those Taggers and put them to work doing community service cleaning up the blighted areas. That's the least those little turds can do. There are many properties that elderly people are in and frankly just can't keep them up. The city should have groups to aid and assist them. Many homes have gone into foreclosure and are left abandoned, causing more blight. It the sign of the times. But not any one race is reposible for all of it.

By the way, many AMERICANS

I bet you live on my block! There are more Wetters than there are Americans here. And they live like TJ's! Why do they have to put lions heads and all that junk in their front yards?

Lion heads??? What block are you on? They have Lion Heads in Beverly Hills. My Aunt that lives in Malibu has Lions? Since when is that a sign that someone is a "wetter"? Maybe these homeowners are trying to keep up with the Jones"s? The world is bad enough, why cause more turmoil? I understand that some people live differently than others, but I also know that we are all GODS children. It is difficult to live next to these homes, but it's not fair to blame only the Mexicans. They have much to offer too.

I came to La Puente in 1955 from back east, the Bronx. My kids, their Mexican friends went to school together, went to college, all became very succesfull in life. In Vietnan these Mexican dudes fought like hell and one of them did three years of duty as a machine gunner on a chopper rescuing and dropping of soldiers into battle. The Mexican kids all over La Puente or anywhere are some of the greatest fighting soldiers you will be proud to be in action with, they are great warriors.

I have the same problem on my block. Broken lion heads with the rebar sticking out, it looks just awful. We also have had forclosed homes on the block bought up by one Asian family that has rented out all his homes to mostly illegal persons. One family does have a permit to work and they keep up their place, but the others just hang out and drink, play Mexican music all afternoon till early in the morning. We now have soiled baby diapers thrown on the curb and sidewalks where these people live it's really bad. I hate to see this and I hate that Mexicans are doing this because I Am A PROUD MEXICAN AMERICAN and those Mexicans are trashing up the place and it looks bad for any Mexican around here...American or not. The person who started this thread sounds if they are has dusgusted as I am. I don't think they are talking about all Mexicans just the Mexicans that are illegal and taking this city for granted and getting free handouts to live here.

Chinese investors are buying up the vacant homes here in La Puente they have already bought out 5 homes on my block and are purchasing everything that is available here. I don't know if we are to become an other Montery Park, City of Industry, San Gabriel, Diamond Bar, Brea, Irvine or who knows what else but they are buying up the place with cash. We have more Section 8 housing owned by Asians than we ever had before.

You can tell how trashy a neighborhood is by counting the number of junk cars in the backyard. La Puente has a lot of junk cars in the back yard. Duarte probably has even more. By comparison, Arcadia and Temple City have few junk cars in the backyard.

If I was a code enforcement officer, I would use google or bing map and look at the satellite image of the houses in the neighborhood. It is easy to spot junkyards and illegal additions in the backyard. I would then do my job and visit these households(and bring police) for possible code violations.

Who do you think you are talking about Mexicans that way, as always ignorant people like you categorize all Hispanic looking people as Mexicans. You are nothing but a empty headed moron, we were here first, so why don't you read and get educated on who this part of land belonged to first. You might even have some Mexican in you! for all you know. Nahh....we don't like bigots like you, you're not that lucky. Oh and don't forget just cause people use Mexico to get to the U.S. dsn't mean they're Mexican. Immigrants come as far as Argentina, read a book you stupid idiot.

The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo: 1848: The treaty provided for the Mexican Cession of 1.36 million kmĀ²(525,000 square miles) to the United States in exchange for US$15 million (equivalent to $380 million todayThe cession that the treaty facilitated included parts of the modern-day U.S. states of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Wyoming, as well as the whole of California, Nevada, Utah, and, depending on one's point of view, Texas. The remaining parts of what are today the states of Arizona and New Mexico were later peacefully ceded under the 1853 Gadsden Purchase, in which the U.S. paid an additional US$10 million (equivalent to $260 million today)Mexico lost.To the victor goes the spoils . DEAL WITH IT !!!If you were born in the U.S.A. and you have hispanic heritage then you are " AN AMERICAN OF HISPANIC DECENT ". NOT A proud Mexican-American.GET IT RIGHT BE PROUD OF WHERE YOU ARE NOT WHERE YOUR FROM.

Wow! how long did it take you to type verbatim your comment, you could have at least try to put it in your own words. What did you do cut and paste? Think again when you say "they lost" we are whether you like it or not going to be the majority and YOU will be the minority. Yes I am a American of Hispanic descent (by the way thats how its spelled...your welcome) and also A PROUD MEXICAN-AMERICAN, so YOU deal with it.

I am of hispanic descent , but I was born here not there and I served this country proudly in the first
gulf war in the Marine Corp.My point is that the more people separate themselves from others by waving mexican flags and calling them selfs Mexican Americans. The farther apart this country becomes.
I fought along the side of Americans from all different back grounds, but they were Americans first. Not the other way around. We are all entitled to are opinion and this is mine . by the way my last name is Hernandez .

People risk their lives to come to the United States, but when they break the law, they run back to their country to hide. I don't care who comes here, but, don't put the burden on us tax payers to foot the bill when you apply for welfare benefits. I know it must be hard for some people to get by, but life is hard. Don't lie and say you don't have a husband in order to get freebees when all the while they can afford a cell phone and beer. Like I said, it's My Opinion. A frustrated taxpayer. I love this country, but all these politicians who get voted in don't give a dam about our neighborhoods or what goes on in them. Thanks for letting me sound off.

I agree, everyone should obey the law, but when you single out Mexicans that way, about trashing, its not fair. Check out a house on Bamboo and Central, that is an eye sore and its a Caucasian woman who lives there. Some of those unkept homes are occupied by South Americans or Asians. Especially if you are of Mexican descent, watch how you express yourself. My dad served in the army, I'm third generation, my spanish isn't perfect, but if we don't stand up for our people who will. There are good and bad in all races and colors, be proud of your heritage.

Google doesn't show live photos of properties. They can be a year old. It may be helpful for illegal additions, but for cars on the lawn it won't be. We do need to put an end to this, before its too late. Due to the economy, our home investments are going down the toilet. The trashy neighbors only make it worse.

Look at the illigal addition at the corner house across the street from the catholic church on Willow and Temple. A bunch of hispanic men live in that house too. Very suspicous. The city has let this one go. Hmm, I wonder why.
