Dear No Love For U....

Who will pay for this? Let me answer for you ... Primarily Private Sector TAXPAYERS.

Can Private Sector taxpayers accumulate such ridiculous cashout benefits ... no, never, because private sector employeres are not so stupid as to waste THEIR money this way.

Politicians on the other hand approve such crap because it's NOT their money, it's taxpayer's money, and by doing so they get massive Union contributions and re-election support.

Such cashout benefits should NOT be allowed in the Public sector just as they aren't in the Private sector.

Now go back to your gravy train ... its feeding time.

Jones Moy is not an ethical person at all. You need to read the article again. If your read their City Council Agendas for the September 22nd Special Meeting which got posted on their City's website. Monterey Park has so many Workers' Comp claim cases. Jones Moy, David Dong, Cathy Orchard, David B. Hart, Barbara Hamer. I made a phone call to the City and found out that Jones Moy and David Dong were department heads and retired from Monterey Park. Cathy Orchard is on leave and she is Fire Chief. These greedy people want to claim 50% of their retirement pays TAX-Free. "TAX-Free!!!" Are you guys listening now? To be able to claim the long-term disability status, the shortcut is to get on WORKERS' COMP first, then you work with the City corrupt Personnel Department, you can legally get your wish. Who foot the bill, YOU, citizens who are unemployed or making minimum wages.
Read the fine lines again - Moy filed for workers' compensation benefits in the months just before his retirement???? We are all suckers for those unethical people....

Everything in the news is so loaded these days, "cashed out $372,XXX..." Right?! If you read the article, the guy's legit. There was no embezzling or other funny business going on. Just because Bell officials got caught with their greedy hands on the cookie jar while stuffing their fat faces, it doesn't mean every city official or political figure is engaged in illegal activity.
Gotta get the news going somehow right? Figures, DB yellow journalism at its finest!
Glad to see there's someone in the bunch who didn't jump on the bandwagon...media ethics at their finest to publish this crap on a friday with no investigation and clearly, no objectivity. You're right...Chief Moy is legit. He did absolutely nothing wrong, but the city council doesn't have the guts to stand up for him, even though he did a great job for his entire career in Monterey Park. This article was nothing more than a hit piece by a journalist with no talent or ethics.

As a future trough feeder I will be making the same pay exactly as I currently make. Your blanket statement of making twice the pay as private sector is just plain untrue. Also, why do you suggest anyone who is a "trough feeder" would be a minimum wager in the private sector when "trough" jobs are pulling in professionals from the outside.
Cops and firewhiners are not making twice what they would in the rpivate sector-they are makign 20 times the minimum wage that GED would bring int he real world.

It's all relative. Firefighters and cops don't have a privatized counterpart to make a true comparison.

Duh!!!!! Police officers typically don't live in the same city they work in because it's an officer safety issue. Nobody wants to arrest a guy for rape, domestic violence, or even issue a citation to a guy they are going to run into at the market later. Would you want that guy following you home? If so, I urge you to apply. Better yet, you're too stupid so never mind!

You imbecile. If you knew how to READ and COMPREHEND things, other than pouncing on others' comments without knowing the facts, you'd understand that this "dirty" cop amassed 32 years, that's right--3 decades--worth of vacation, sick time, etc. of monetary benefits. I understand that math probably isn't your forte, but $372,XXX/32 yrs = right about $11,625 a year in cash benefits...which translates to about $1,000 per month. WOW?! was that difficult? The guy wasn't pulling a Kenneth Lay, Bernie Madoff or Rizzo the fat slob Bell job--you murmuring idiot. Please Google or look up "yellow journalism" and "sensationalism." You need to a lot more educated in this dangerous world. There's too many rash idiots...like--YOU--who don't know squat.

Yes, and he retired young....and i only make 10 bucks an hour and I am 61 years old stil working because I can't get a job nor did any job ever offer me any retirement benefits. I'm doomed to die for sure very poor and nothing left for my family but another bill. To pay for my funeral.

Tired of hearing about all the whining regarding retirement benefits. You should have found yourself a job with a better retirement plan. The fact that you didn't, has left you angry and "very poor" as you say. Many, like myself, choose jobs where the pay is good but no benefits come with it. I didn't care to save for my future at the time, I wanted to work in Real Estate, be my own boss, have my own hours, etc...and now I'm paying for that mistake. On the other hand, I see people with great retirement plans that arrived to work at their assigned times, did their job and left at quitting time. They've done this for 30+ years. Good for them, now they're being rewarded. I'm sure they lost a lot of family time during that period. But not I, I was able to take time for my kids games, family parties, etc...and now, I have to count on my kids to help me out. But, this is the life I chose, do I regret it? sometimes, but I'm not complaining.

hey everyone complaining if you look at your own sick leave and benefits and retirement plan it's the same thing. If you don't use your work days and don't take vacations it does become monetary value when you retire a bunch of private and public companies do this. Why do i know this because I've seen it happen, people rather work on Columbus day or work on thanksgiving or hell even Christmas and don't take vacations because in the end they know its going to be worth it.

Now go get a life and worry about serial killers and government officials who are actually writing themselves larger checks rather then someone who just didn't take sick days or take vacation leave. And as for Thomas Himes go do some research before you go off the deep end and complain about something that is not complain worthy. heck i bet someone just wanted to jump on the bandwagon and but in their two cents on the Bell case.

I cannot believe the ignorant and belligerent statements being made by a bunch of people who didin't make anything of themselves in their lives and now want to pick on someone who served the city on Monterey Park with distinction. The cheif was an honest ethical and hardworking public servant. and to the commentor named "ext door". don't lash out at someone else because you wre a failure in your life! if You are 61 and are at ten dollars an hour, sounds like a personal problem. most of you "haters" are uninformed individuals with no intelligent idea of what you are talking about, just spouting hate, and provingthat you are among the "Blisfully Stupid". You people should be jailed for lowering the IQ of the general human population.
