Don't fall for the trap. NLMUSD did not do what they promised when the last bond was passed. Plus the superintendent and her underlings all got huge raises. She gave her assistant superintendents each a $34,000 raise. And did you know the school district is getting lots more money from the state. Why should our property taxes be raised???? VOTE NO in November.

Can anyone tell me why we should raise our taxes? There seems to be a lot of things NLMUSD could do to lower costs. They haven't tried so why should we suffer?

I am cool with two new stadiums in Norwalk.

SincerelyThe Norwalk High School one should obviously be named for coach C who helped create the winning program that makes this all possible. It's even nicer that the rich folks in LM will foot most the bill. We all know what way their toilets flush.

The weird thing to me is WHY do they want to spend over 20 million for Iron Gates in front of the schools?

I completely opposed this bond. We are still paying 165 million dollars fro the 2002 bond. Do you know we still owe over 134 million dollars from that bond? And they want us to pay another one for 375 million. Where are the projects already completed? Where have they spent the money? Built two stadiums? Iron gates? Provide a better education, we don't need beautiful classrooms. We are going to need people to let us place yard signs, talk to people, etc. Let's get together in the next board of education meeting which will take place this month Monday 9/22/2014 at 6pm Let's unite!

you are cool with the stadiums but are you cool with your property taxes going up again? The district didn't even finish the projects from the first bond that people voted for. Why would you think they would use the money correctly this time? VOTE NO and save yourself from being disappointed because the project you support just wont be done.

Vote no, they are not closing any schools, if the district really needs money they should sell the adult schools and Barbara Dawson properties.as for naming the Norwalk Stadium after their coach, understand this, unless there is another Penny child coming through that system, Norwalk will be back fighting for a playoff spot and people will be saying this offense sucks. Glenn ran the same offense in the late 80's and early 90's and when their were no more Teo brothers coming through to run the rock, Willie Norman became an administrator because he knew his brand of football had run its course. Same will happen at Norwalk it is a gimmick that looks legit when you have tools to run it.

It is interesting that Dr. Perez the superintendent bailed out before the start of the 2014-15 school year to become Ass Supt for Los Angeles City.

She went from a 20,000 student district too a 600,000 $tudent district.

The LASD superintendent resigned shortly after Perez arrived.

(Perez was brought into NLMUSD under federal mandates, to square the NON-performing schools to "no child left behind." It is a profound irony that Shattuck who drove the district into federal control is "back at the wheel" while receiving 240k a year in retirement.....and also full salary (source www.transparentcalifornia)( www.whittierdailynews.com )
