What DID cause the crash? Road hazard? Mechanical malfunction or blown tire? Murder/suicide? Maybe she thought she saw a perp in oncoming traffic and tried to apprehend them? I know! Let's ask the other two passengers in the car!

I agree. Sad, but an example of the serious dangers of cell phone use while driving. Glad there were not other fatalities.

When we read the cowardly and insensitive comments posted here, we're vividly reminded that there are heartless morally bankrupt individuals out there with no regard for their fellow citizens. Because of them, we realize how lucky we all were to have had people like officer Jacqueline Montalvo out there standing up and representing the rest of us. Condolences to her friends, her family an those that she served.

If you don't know how to say something comforting to the family and friends when somebody tragically dies...just shut up! Too many heartless comments here. As we often see, service folks are many times over worked and tired; perhaps this may have been the cause. We don't know, but we also don't know if she was using her cell or texting. It's better not to jump to conclusions, at this point! My sentiments go out to her friends, co workers and family. May she rest in the Lord's peace now, and God bless her family.

Maybe the officer suffered from a medical emergency? Tragic for all involved.
