So letís get this straight Ö Even though I am not :)
The Bruins replaced a coach who hasnít been to the Sweet 16 in five years with a coach who hasnít been to the Sweet 16 this century Ö
They hired a guy whose mentor, Bob Knight, is the most outspoken critic of John Wooden Ö
They hired a guy who is a Hoosier hero but was passed over for the Indiana job once twice three times Ö
They hired a guy who pledged his commitment to New Mexico, then proceeded to break that commitment 10 days later Ö
They hired a guy who just lost to Harvard in the round of 64 Ö
All of which makes Steve Alford-to-UCLA a surprising hire, an interesting hire, a wait-and-see hire Ö a bad hire.
Ya I agree Rob.This hiring is pathetic. You of all people would be flaunting our new hire and rubbing it in the face of all the TrOJans if we had hired Pitino but Steve Alford? He's not even worthy to sit at the same dinner table as Pitino or Coach K, or even next to Ben Howland. This is really disgusting to hire a guy like Alford...Time to wear brown bags over our head at home games, kind of like Wolffie on a date.....Go Bruins!

<quoted text>he left a program ranked #10 with all 5 starters coming back to be a Bruin...what does that tell you? it tells me UCLA is one of the best jobs in college basketball, and according to survey, coaches in the major programs such as coach K, Caliapari, Pitino, and others all had UCLA in the top-5 jobs...USC? you would be lucky to sign Bob Boyd. ROTFLMAFAO!!!
Oh honey this is what we do at sc, we bag on UCLA as our own program is in shambles.
.
I still think Chamique Holdscaw is the answer, shes a trojan through and through, remember how we made fun of UCLA hiring MORA?? all he did was kick our butts 38 to 28.
.
Fight On, Bruin cutie, Fight On

Too late MBD, we effed up! Puleeze if SC had hired Steve Alford we would be making fun of them sooo much. This is really a pathetic hire Bringing Bobby Knight out of retirement would have been better, heck I would even take George Raveling over Alford. I wish we could have hired Gregg Marshall he's more impressive that Alford who hasn't done a thing in the NCAA since 1999?......... Go Bruins!

Too bad Reggie would turn their ahsss down in a second! I think they caught Bibby back when he was having financial problems, otherwise..........
If they were smart (not Shaka) maybe they could try to lure in Paul Westphal. He is an ex-Trojan and would probably be the biggest name they possibly could get.
Worst hire ever!
You would never see Duke,Kansas, Louiville,INDIANA,Kentucky ever giving Steve Alford a head coaching job .I doubt if they would give him a comped ticket.
I guess in the end it comes down to who wanted the job and the only coach who wanted the UCLA job was that scumbag con artist Steve (Lavin) Alford. Do you really believe that this is a good hire, now don't give me that let's wait and see bs, no one would ever say let's wait and see if we had hired Pitino. This was a desperate hire that has descecrated my Bruins Storied BB program......Go Bruins!

UCLA names New Mexico Head Coach Steve Alford as their man. Okay, Brew In is happy again. I will pop open a a few brews over his!!!
I think he may be just what the doctor ordered! Though like the Jim Mora hire we will have to wait to see what materializes, but I will give AD Guerrero props on this one!
Sorry haters, Go Bruins!!!!!!!!!!
If the Bruins wanted to hire a real coach they could have called on me! Remember I own UCLA! They could learn a lot from me on how to win and about tradition. I would do it for only 1 million per game! Just my name alone would fill up the morgue known as Pauley Pavillion.

I had kicked that name around, but Trojans I know don't want him. They want someone younger, who's still in the game and hasn't been sitting on the sidelines for the past couple of years.
FYI, just as with being a U.S. marine, you're never an "ex-Trojan".
When the Trojans find their man, they will know. We are not like the (B)ruins who had to scramble to try and save public face because they kept being turned down by Mid-Major coaches who do not think much of that ONCE proud (B)ruin program of yesteryear!

In addition to that, the (B)ruins have had so many transfers and kids leaving town on the fastest plane or bus, that they sensed the same thing happening to their new recruits and what will be left of their current team, that that had to salvage a hire right away... HaHa

You're right CT, it's very embarrassing to be a Bruin right now, we certainly look more desperate than ever with that lousy hire of Steve Alford. I think my days of being a Bruin over....I want to be a Trojan and experience what it's like to be a winner and a heterosexual.

Chris Foster of the Times was on with Travis Rogers this morning and they were laughing at foolish Bruin fans who think the UCLA job is up there with Duke, Kentucky, Louisville & the like. As they put it, "It's still a good job. Just not a great job."

That's why I never follow the advice of several guys who have told me I'm nuts for paying for PPV fights. "You should stream it for free!"

Yeah, right!! The $50 is well worth not getting a lot of shit on my computer!!

It doesn't matter what these trOJan fan radio meatheads think, just like it doesn't matter what you think...what matters is UCLA got a coach with huge balls, and not afraid to swim with the big fish, like Shaka Stupix and the other fool who prefer to be kings of a fish bowl...like Steve Alford said when asked what motivated him to accept the job "it was those 4 letters, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to coach at a prestigious university" and I think he also said, "with a basketball tradition like no other"...don't hate cuz everyone you have offered has said "HELL NO!!! MR. AD please sign me to another 10 years!!! I don't any part of that USC nighmae!!!!" LMFAO!!!

Yah, I think USC fans are even more delusional, although I will give this much, you TRIED to bring your once proud winning tradition back to South Central, too bad you got caught with your hands in the coookie jar!! and all that success, is ALL TAINTED like another trOJan's homeruns Mr Cheater hinself Mark McGuirre.

LMFAO!!
