KNX1070 AM Radio had something about a police shootout and suspected shooters ran in direction of school so it was in lockdown - that is all I heard

We were stopped by police near Hutchinson Middle School and asked to "pop" our trunk. The officer said there had been a shooting. This was around 10 AM. La County Sheriff helicopter, Channel 11 and another chopper were overhead for a long time. The whole neighborhood surrounding the school is road blocked.

Buena Park P.D. pursued 2 parole suspects into La Mirada and asked for other agencies to assist. One of the suspects had a gun and was involved in a shooting just prior to or during the pursuit. Both suspects are in custody.

Hutchinson was on lock down because the pursuit ended in that area and one of the suspect was at large.

I called Hutchinson Middle school's office and could not get any answers. I text my children that attend this school and they don't know - the school told them it will be a few hours that they are on lock down.

Concerned Parent. Did you not read the post above yours? The school is all clear. Both suspects are in custody. The school also sent two recorded phone messages from the Principal. One about the lock down and one about the all clear.

If you were listening at open house you would also know that your children are not to use cell phones at school. That includes your text messages.

What is more important that the concerned parent knows her/his children are ok or that texting was happening while in school. REALLY...get a grip! I would do anything I possibly could to find out whether or not my child was alright. Someone needs to get their priorities straight because not everyone stays at home to receive those messages. Some of us have to work!!!

If parents work maybe they should give their cell phone number to the school that way you won't miss the recorded message. Especially if they are as important as today's were.

And what exactly would you do if they weren't ok? I think the point is, school officials are doing everything they can to gain or restore order and all you do is mess that up.

I heard the Vons on Imperial and Beach was on lockdown yesterday. Some lobsters got out of the tank and were threatening the store manager. They wanted a bunch of cash and a plane.
