I recommend the tower be rebuilt over city hall if it is so safe.

The tower was up for 50 years and the only accident I'm aware of was the one that recently took it down- one accident every 50 years seems pretty safe.

Tell that to the person that got killed. If put back up it will kill again.
There are no white lines in the sky. Ones position over the ground can get a bet iffy when the smog thickens up.

Putting the tower over city hall may not be such a good idea.We would have sum disgruntled employe climb up there and drop water filled balloons on to the Mayors head. We all know we need to conserve on water.

So the next time somebody drives their car into a tree or power pole we're supposed to take them all down? And when's the last time the smog got that thick within a few hundred feet of the ground? It's a shame the pilot's error cost him and his passenger their lives, but flying is risky business- just note the Corona tragedy this week.

"So the next time somebody drives their car into a tree or power pole we're supposed to take them all down?"
Sarcasm,not relevant.
"And when's the last time the smog got that thick within a few hundred feet of the ground?" Your in over your head here. You don`t have a clue.
" flying is risky business" Driving a car is "risky business",Walking across a street is"risky busness".The idea is not to add to that risk.
"pilot's error" Your are not qualified to make that call.

You don't know if I'm qualified to make that call or not, but if no one hits a tower in 50 years of flying and then someone does...the legal phrase res ipsa loquitor comes to mind. As it is, I'm not "qualified" to make that call, but the NTSB is. The point I was trying to make is that one crash in 50 years doesn't make the tower dangerous- would the sky be safer without it, of course- as it would be without transmission lines, or streets without poles and trees, but as a society we make choices- for commercial practicality or aesthetic preference- and there's a risk for the return.(And by the way, why is my sarcasm less relevant than yours?)

res ipsa loquitor, not to the local pilots and to Fullerton. The city of LaMirada is taking money to disregard this hazard. What is your end? I don`t understand your motive? My motive is obvious, one less hazard for aircraft.

to Bud H. That pilot did not hit the tower because of smog or fog. It was clear that day. That pilot was also too low. If he was going to land at Fullerton he was on the wrong side of the airport to be flying below 1000 ft. The winds were out of the west that day, you fly into the winds to land. Every other pilot that fly's the I-5 corridor acknowledged that tower is marked on their maps, they all know it is there. It was pilot error, period.

I broadcasted my opinion about this at a City Hall meeting, and all I got in return was a bunch of static.
