Sounds like alot of fun... but what exactly is the message being sent to the youth on these teams... also isn't it still considered an OUI to operate a bycicle under the influence? How do you sign up for Tour de NA next year???

the fundraiser isn't to show any examples, this is a bunch of friends who decided to do this to raise money when so many people were interested, the cause was an after thought but a good chance to help out a needy cause.

no sign ups, only invites.

This is just an excuse for some over aged adults to ride around on bikes and drink and party... And look foolish while doing so. Fund raising had very little to do with it!!! The host of Tour De NA and their counter parts have enough money to donate w/out pulling a stupid scene like this... And yes you can get an OUI for riding your bicycle while intoxicated- just what we needed 50+ drunks and druggies riding down the streets creating a potentially dangerous situation... Why not have a bake sale or something if you are really trying to raise money- or better yet reach down deep into your pockets......give me a break!

over aged adults? maybe big kids.

this is not a public thing, if people don't want to be involved they aren't, nobody is asking the paper for an publisity or the cause for any credit. this is not a fundraiser, just choose to do give because the chance is there to do so. the people who do this, all 50+, are doing so to have a good time, what is the difference between this and any poker run on motorcycles?

as far as donations straight from anyones pocket, that happens the rest of the year, all the 50+ do more for this community than most and are not asking for anything in return.
something so stupid raised 1750. dollars without any issues,(some additional donations made by people who thought it was great and want to be involved) more than most bakesales i'm sure, and alot more fun and less belly aches.

and if this isn't what we need, please inform us on what we do need?

A little fun in life never hurt anyone and if you can do some good while having fun, even better. Ask the folks who run Marty's T-Ball or who run the NA Youth Basketball program if fundraising had little to do with it. The money raised by this event was very important to both causes. I don't know what someone having money of their own has to do with helping put together a fund raiser? I can tell you that all riders donated to the cause. The ride also helped bring 50+ people into local businesses on a Saturday afternoon. These businesses were very generous with donations and appreciated the extra business the riders brought to them. No trouble was caused by anyone in the ride. I don't know what your problem is with the Tour de NA, but their are bigger things in life to worry about.

Are you implying that 50+ people driving around drunk on a bicycle is something the community MUST HAVE?

I guess you don't think it's a 'must have', but the folks who run Marty's and NA Youth BBall sure do appreicate it.

There is no must have, just having fun, no need for critism, unless you heard any complaints or maybe you were not invited?

Sounds like another example of someone taking a good thing and putting other people down. Too many jealous people around here. I want to reach in my pocket and pull out a finger for HAHA. Good for whoever put this event on. I can't wait to go down the rode feeling bad bad bad next year.

My son-in law was there- just seemed to be irresponsible and showed poor judgement. And since you DID accept donations on behalf of children's organizations it WAS a fundrasier and I think the message being sent to NA youth was in poor taste. sorry.....

There are a lot of bad thing happening these days, both locally and nationally. A group of friends getting together, raising money for a good cause, and supporting local businesses is not one of them. I'm sorry that this is what you decide to get upset about....

i have heard that several organizations have been asking to be the next beneficiaries, maybe it should just be for fun next year instead of raising anything, leaving a perfect opportunity for null? there will always be a critic

if a dinner is held for starving children, is that done in bad taste? i think Budweiser might be the largest sponsor for most all major league parks housing children's idols, if they were to donate any money to a cause to help children, would that be in poor taste?

all the children there were old enough make their own decisions.

This is a group of people who care for their community... sounds like a fun ride for a good cause. And to be calling people "drunks and druggies" who you don't even know, is in more poor taste than anything done in this ride... Keep on biking!

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Taurus

Friends and partners aren't behaving as you would like today. They're eager to go their own way, much to your annoyance. In order to get round this you're going to have to ask yourself some tricky questions, such as whether you're trying to control everyone's behavior or whether they're being inconsiderate in wanting to do their own thing. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so maybe you should all release the tension by making it a super New Year's Eve celebration?
