I know he's out of the race, but Doheny supports abortion, therefore I can't support him.

My last comment was a little unclear. I really hope that NYS Republicans will wake up to the fact that many of us registered republicans will not vote for social liberals. Abortion is murder. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Stop putting up Republican candidates who favor abortion and/or gay so-called marriage. I didn't support Scozzafava, I don't support Duprey, and I won't support Doheny.

Owens has done effective business development in the North country on his own dime! Dohenny has done effective business dissolution at great profit to himself. Over the past twenty years Wall St has moved to liquidate businesses and suck out all remaining funds. That's Dohenny's experience. And he wants LESS government regulation of Wall St after they almost sunk the Western democracies!(No, Obama did NOT create this economic disaster!) No question to me. Vote in your own interest. Vote Owens.

OWENS Is a game player, he makes great comments but is controlled by Pelosi and her agenda. Look at what he does ,not what he says,,, he said it was a mistake for congress to adjourn,, before voting on tax extensions, then turned around and voted to adjourn, he is a hypocrite and a hand picked Obama supporter.

Neither are other people's choice to exercise of their legal right to an abortion. Now you can remain out of step in your views and watch them continue to march into obscurity and increased marginalization. Or you can agree to disagree with the majority of people and focus instead on where we go from here. Sorry, that old nut bag pulpit political nonsense is dead. And the republican political practice of distracting the public with wedge issues in elections is fading fast. Nobody gives a damn anymore. You want to live where women and gays have no rights? Try Iran.

Owens needs to reconsider his antiquated social views and at least agree to vote in ways that represent everyone in his district, and to assure that ALL of his constituents are able to exercise ALL of their civil rights. I'm having trouble voting for him as I am (obviously) socially progressive.

I'm not saying that gays should have no rights, but I am saying that marriage is an institution that is not created nor ordained by man.

Marriage certainly was created man. If man didn't create it then who did? Dogs? Maybe horses created marriage. Did horses create marriage? I wish people could just mind their own damn business.

I don't want to get off topic and have this descend into a discussion of social issues. Let's just leave it at this: There are many Republicans who seem to want the party to become more "progressive," moderate, or even liberal. However, there are also many Republicans who still have conservative values. I don't see how there can be compromise, so it might have to come to the party dividing into a Fiscally conservative/socially liberal party and a Fiscally conservative/socially conservative party. If the Republicans try to have a "big tent" philosophy, they will end up as disjointed as the Democrats are.

Have you been living under a rock? The Republican Party couldn't be more divided. How many teabagger extremists have hijacked primary elections nationwide? The GOP has been taken over by its radical fringe. Fiscally Conservative????? No way. If giving handouts to the filthy rich and borrowing money from China to pay for illegal wars is fiscally conservative, then I must be out of touch with the meaning of those words. The only difference between "tax and spend" and "borrow and spend" is that the costs are deferred to our children instead of being paid for in real time. Your party hasn't been fiscally conservative since Richard Nixon, who incidentally was in favor of socialized health care for all. Your party is fractured, and now the established Republicans are being forced to pretend to embrace amateur candidates like the Delaware Witch and the Buffalo Madman, in order to give the illusion of unity. The worst thing that ever happened to the Republicans is that dumbass from Alaska, and she is well on her way to destroying the party for good. Wake up. I am as socially progressive as they come, but this district cannot afford to elect a Representative on social issues. What about the damn price of milk? OWENS will follow what ever he is told to do by the party,, look at his voting record,, on big issues with a close vote, he always votes with Pelosi , on issues that are lop sided and have little chance of changing things, he will on occasion vote against Pelosi's agenda but the vote makes no difference, he is told what do and he does it to keep his job,
