Goodwill in Round Rock

On Saturday I visited both the local Goodwill and Salvation Army stores looking for books and maybe a lamp. Oh My God, what an eye opener, especially given the fact that the merchandise sold in these stores was given to them FREE. Thankfully, I went to the SA store before going to Goodwill.
I bought 4 books for .50 each, a lamp for 3.00, and 2 pair of jeans for 3.00 each at Salvation Army. And I found out that they have half-price days.
I then went to Goodwill and wound up buying NOTHING! Paperback books 1.99 each, a small table lamp 9.99, nylon wind pants 9.99......TEN DOLLARS FOR A PAIR OF WIND PANTS??!! A young man was taking items off a shelf and putting into a cart. I asked if these were new items, he said no, they were being taken off the shelf to destroy to make room for "new merchandise". DESTROYED??!! Why not have a half-price sale one or two days a month?
It it very clear, to me at least, that Goodwill has lost sight and focus of their original purpose. Over-priced and wanton waste abounds. I will not be donating or buying from Goodwill in the future.

I agree! Saw a picture in the Round Rock Goodwill on 79 that would have looked great in my living room. When I saw the sticker...I walked out. 39.99! Wow! Found lovely pictures for 1/2 the price at
Kirkland's. Never again. People should reconsider.donating to Goodwill. I know I sure will!
