I'm guessing "the truth" and Drivers Ed" same guy btw, works for the camera maker lol. Talk about some great propaganda! Sorry buddy, you are full of it. I think maybe he needs to read up a little bit on the FACTS.

Here's some red light camera FACTS for ya:

From CA:
A local TV station fact-checked the city's claims that their ticket cameras reduced accidents and found that the opposite was true. At 20 of the 32 intersections studied, accidents increased and several intersections tripled their accident rate.

From Washington:
This report showed an overall increase in accidents at red-light camera intersections of 107 percent.

Oceanside CA:
This report showed a 800 percent increase in rear-end accidents

TX:
Data released by the city showed that the total number of accidents in Corpus Christi increased 14 percent, from 310 incidents to 353, at nine locations where automated ticketing machines were stationed. Contrary to the claim that red light cameras reduce the severity of collisions, the number of accidents involving injuries increased 28 percent from 140 to 179. Rear end collisions also increased by nearly a third from 160 to 208.

And it goes on and on and on......

You have no idea what you are talking about! What do you know about the process? You are just repeating what all the complainers are saying. Each and every video is reviewed by a real police officer and they either approve the citation or dismiss it. They don't approve the ticket if you stop past the line, you are wrong! They only issue the ticket if you fail to completely stop. They don't care if you accidently pass the line and then stop, the officer will dismiss the recording and no ticket will be issued if you did actually come to a complete stop even if it was just past the line. You get to watch the video yourself, there is a link sent to you with the citation where you can watch the video and if you still believe you stopped you can request a court date where you get to watch the video with a judge. If the judge agrees that you did really stop your ticket is dismissed and you walk out. All this crying about the cameras is being done by people who are too simple to understand that all they have to do is STOP. It's easy and even YOU can do it! Give it a try it's the pedal on the left!
You forgot to mention how you have to PAY to view/dispute.$35 it cost me. Who the heck do you work for? Obviously you have a vested interest otherwise you wouldn't skip over the truth. And yes, they still will send the tickets for stopping over the line. It's clear you have no idea what you are talking about. These cameras are nothing but a joke and need to be removed.

1. If you stop at the line and after stopping you move forward to see, the officer will see that when he watches the video and he won't approve the ticket, without his approval it wont be sent to you. Police officers watch each and every video before the ticket is approved.
2. You know who drives your car and most likely it is someone you love. Explain the importance of stopping at red lights and make them pay the ticket. The lesson may save their lives later, and the ticket wont go on your record anyway.
3. Parking lot fender benders don't usually result in injury or death. Side impact high speed accidents in intersections have a much higher death rate. There has been no proven increase in rear end accidents due to the cameras and people should never be following so closely that they can't react to a car suddenly stopping in front of them. Driver's ED class taught us about the reactionary gap you are suppossed to be keeping between you and the car in front of you.
4. These cameras are making it so officers don't have to sit at intersections 24hrs a day and it frees them up so they can handle other crimes.
If you seriously think an officer reviews EACH and EVERY ticket that goes out you are sadly mistaken.

They are a complete travesty and are designed to make money for the city that install them. Not to save lives. If you believe anything else I have some land I would love to sell you too.

Found this in the Daily Herald on Illinois cameras:

Of the 16 municipalities that issue citations for right turns and were able to break down their violation data, 100 percent acknowledged the majority of their tickets come from right turns. The total of right-turn citations going out per town ranged from 100 percent to 64 percent. Six municipalities estimated the rate of right-turn tickets was 90 percent or higher of the total violations.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data analyzing vehicle maneuvers and accidents shows that 0.8 percent — less than 1 percent — of fatal crashes in 2007 occurred when a driver was turning right.[...]

DuPage County Board Member Paul Fichtner calls the predominance of right-turn violations the technology’s “dirty little secret.”“It’s almost like bait and switch,” said Fichtner, arguing that local officials are sold on the idea of stopping reckless behavior when they approve red light cameras but that the results don’t match the hype.

The red light camera company ADMITS to bribery.
What more proof do we need that these are bad.
Made by crooks, installed by crooks, politically pushed by crooks, and enforced by crooks.
Its time honest people pushed back and demand that these cameras be removed.

You must be delusional if you believe this. They issue tickets all the time for stopping over the line. I believe about 75% of the tickets issued are for stopping too far past the line or for not enough time. All this crap about them being for safety reasons is just that, crap. If anyone seriously thinks they stop idiots from blowing thru the red light when they are speeding and/or distracted is clueless. That should be the real concern, not a "hollywood stop".

One of the safes moves you can make is a right turn on red.
There is no need for a camera taking pics of someone making a right turn.
As for not stopping almost all drivers do.
But the camera is giving tickets to those who stop just beyond the white line.
Too often you have to go slightly past the white line to get a better view of side way traffic.
Southbound on rt12 & rt134 is just such an example of that.
And clean up your language kids read these posts too. Try and set an example.
No, you and him would rather just complain and/or not get caught. What about the people who DO blow through red lights, crybaby?
Do you not see all the people who keep turning left into oncoming traffic after the green arrows turn red?
I count sometimes up to 5 cars who keep turning lefty and it happens at damn near all intersections. I don't hear you complaining about them. And how about the crash on 173 between a SCHOOL BUS and a jeep?
One of them blew through the red light(but according to you, crybaby there's not a problem with people blowing through red lights . Miraculously, none of the kids were injured or killed.
But no, crybabies like you:"WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! ! The lights aren't fair!!"
"WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! "

These cameras are going after RIGHT turn on red more then they are left turners.
That accident is still under investigation as to its cause.
And exactly how would a camera at rt173 and Kilbourn have stopped those two vehicles ?
These cameras do NOT stop accidents from occurring.
What they do is generate money for the local towns.

HA HA, Im guessing this guy works for the camera companies. Who else would think these things are a good idea? No one. 99.9% of tickets issued are for right hand turns. And you seem to think a RED LIGHT camera would have prevented that accident? You are clearly delusional. The lights are perfectly fair if you are a city that needs cash. If you are a citizen looking to prevent accidents, look somewhere else.

Cry some more, crybaby. You're clearly just angered that they can catch people now. You care NOTHING about the money issue. NOTHING. I know you want us to think that, crybaby.
Come on, cry some more about how unfair it is that they can catch people easier.
Cry some more about how unfair that a-holes who keep turning left on red lights into oncomming traffic are at a disadvantage with these cameras.
It's obvious you love complaining and you HATE getting caught. Then again it's actually kind of amusing watching grown men crying like little girls about these cameras....here's an idea....STOP AT THE LIGHT.
Is that really so hard?
I only got a ticket ONCE at a red light camera and I drive ALOT. And it was because I didn't come to a full stop when i was making a right turn. The ONLY TIME. Is stopping at the light too much to ask of you??
Oh I forgot...silly me....you're too important to have to stop. Unlike everyone else on the road....us peasants. Excuse ME, Mr. Important. Again, you're welcome to ask the parents of the kids who were in the school bus crash on 173 if they feel red light cameras are wrong. Come on, let's hear some more crying.

Oh, listen to you....."explain how this would've stopped the accident from occuring."
So you're fine with the crash?
I don't hear you complaining about the cause of the crash, the purpetrators of the crash, or even how insanely lucky none of the kids on the bus were killed. NONE of that you mention.
All you cry about is, "WAAAAHHHH, I have to deal with a red light camera!"
And you don't care about it being a way for towns to make money. That's not it at ALL. You just feel it's ...."WWWAAAAHHHH!!!! Unfair that they can catch us now!!!"
I also don't hear you complaining about people who don't stop before they turn right on red OR people who blow through the red lights. You're just angered that they can catch you...plain and simple. And for SOME reason you must think it's unfair that they can catch you....even more bizarre.
So go ahead, keep feeding us your load of crap about it angering you because it's a $$ issue when really what you're angry about is that they can catch you easier now.
Come on, cry some more.

I actually drive through that intersection a lot.
My daughter lives in Winthrop Harbor.
I'll bet you never drove through it.
A red light camera would have made zero difference.
It still is a law suit and they are not releasing the full facts at this time.
Judging from the damages more then one vehicle was driving way over the limit. But as to who blew by the red light remains to be seen.
Speeders drive to fast for a number of reasons.
One thing is for certain about speeders and that is red light cameras never slow them down.

A point you always miss is that red light cameras never catch the driver. THEY CATCH THE VEHICLE. The driver is not always the owner of the vehicle.
Maybe you should do more homework on these red light camera and less time trying to become a rocket scientist.

Oh, listen to you! Still can't answer the question. Only someone who doesn't have a clue or has a dollar interest in a red light camera would write this. Someone sounds a bit defensive lol!

If you can't understand the difference between a safety issue and a revenue gainer than I suggest you do some reading.

A red light camera would have done absolutely nothing to prevent this crash. An increase in yellow light time at an intersection with a 50 mph speed limit would.

Understand the difference? I doubt it.

Don't ask me where I heard it because I won't tell you, but with respect to the crash on 173 between school bus & jeep, it appears that the driver of the jeep had medical issues and had a medical event before striking the bus. Sad circumstances, and thankfully none of the kids were seriously hurt. Red light camera wouldn't have done anyone any good under those circumstances.

I remain half & half on red light cameras. I don't think they should be used to ticket people turning right on red, but I think they are useful otherwise. I know I think twice when approaching an intersection with one, and am more prepared to stop if the light goes yellow. But then, I pay attention when I drive. I think everyone here will acknowledge that there are an awful lot of folks on the road who don't.

Because you don't seem to be able to read I will post it more clearly for you. Between 64% and 100% of red light camera tickets are issued for right hand turns. Less than 1% of accidents occur from a right hand turn. Get the picture yet? It's about MONEY not safety. You really think a red light camera is gonna stop someone trying to race thru a yellow light or is distracted driving? Think again. Find somewhere else to spout your uninformed bull crap.
