Does anyone know what happened? Or who was involved? There was a crash that took an electrical pole down and the truck or SUV was such a wreck you could not see even what it was. I said a prayer as soon as I saw this. That was one of the worst things I have ever seen. My heart goes out to all whose lives may be touched by that crash.

I also saw the aftermath of the accident this morning around 6:30am. Not sure if had recently happened or if it took place earlier in the morning. From my perspective when I drove by the emegency personel weren't moving very fast and the shape of the vehicle envolved didn't look promising. Was trying to figure out what the heck happened. There didn't appear to be another vehicle involved. I've seen many deer that time of the morning trying to cross Rollins. It wouldn't suprise me that who ever it was might have been trying to avoid hitting it. Just an assumtion.

True, but looking at that electric post it appeared to me that the vehicle was going extremely fast. That pole was "shattered" into three pieces. Seemed as almost perhaps it happened late and maybe the could have been tired and fallen asleep. In any event yes that car was not very promising I pray for the person and the family that has to deal with all of this. Just so sad.I was there about the same time you were too.

I went to the scene earlier today to see for myself what it looked like. After seeing the wreckage on the news this morning and watching the helicopter fly over, I live very close to the scene, I could not resist seeing where it happened. After getting to the scene there is no doubt in my mind that the person or people involved in this accident did not survive, the wreckage to the area was severe, there is a taillight from the vehicle in a tree approximately fifteen feet from where the crash occurred. If there were any survivors of this accident it would be a miracle.

An early morning accident Thursday that closed down Rollins Road west of Gurnee until 7:15 a.m. involved one car that burst into flames and left a passenger with a severed foot and broken ribs.
The Lake County Sheriffs Office said a black Mercedes-Benz SUV was traveling eastbound on Rollins Road around 3:15 a.m. just west of Route 45 when the driver, Justin Schulze, 23, apparently lost control and the vehicle hit the guardrail on the north side of the roadway.
The vehicle rolled over and then caught fire.
Schulze, of the 18000 block of Lindenwood Drive, Wildwood, and passenger John Bruhn, 29, address unknown, were able to escape from the Mercedes. Both were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville.
Firefighting crews put out the fire, but the water then iced over the roadway and the Lake County Division of Transportation was called to salt and clear the ice-covered road.
It was re-opened to traffic at 7:15 a.m.
The accident investigation will continue to determine if there were any contributing factors to the accident, according to the Sheriffs Office.
