FYI- The sale of the Old "SHORES BOWLING ALLEY"-(That sits on the WEST side of Prarie Creek that ANYONE over there who went to the JR. HIGH had to BOWL there. The SIGN is STILL there under the FAKE front)will take place with the owner of the building AND MAYOR MCBARNES MOM,DAD and BROTHER, TODAY! "Seriously", you need to read the Top 2 posts. I Have NEVER Tended toward KNOWING it ALL. But I can tell ya this. This ol' Guy has NEVER Gone a Huntin fer Elephant les he's a LOADED fer ELEPHANT! I was wearing "short pants when you were a "gleam" in your mothers eye. I mean no disrespect, I LOVE this county, BUT, Glad I do NOT live in YOUR city. I SEE and HEAR enough. AS I said I attend all meetings, read and VOTE do YOU? Remember, I said attend the meetings and read as WELL as vote.
Ok Ok I admit I was wrong about the location...I totally got confused as I was very young when I was in there. However, I don't understand what tearing that building down is going to accomplish as far as parking...it won't free up that many spaces. As far as the McBarnes' purchasing it that can be confirmed at the courthouse.

If he wants to make headlines, he should go after businesses like Don-Mar rentals, Rapp Rentals, Flavors, Munoz Auto, and the other 70 plus non tax paying individuals. Between the property taxes and state taxes that are owed, he could get more revenue for the city and look like a true hero. As much as the man talks about Abe Lincoln, you'd think he would see the merit in doing such things.

But then again, Lincoln did seem pretty sad stuff to the American people back then so I guess we should expect that with Mr. Mcbarnes as well.

Person of the year??? I think not. Person " wanting to get his name out there in the media for doing things that other people started" of the year. Most assuredly.

The McBarnes family did just purchase the old Shore's Bowling Alley. This was insider information and it is wrong on all surfaces. If they turn around and let the City Of Frankfort purchase it for a profit, then there will be h... to pay. You will see the biggest lawsuit ever in the city along with the Mayor being ousted for insider information fraud. We are standing by to see if they sell it for a profit to the City for the new Ivy Tech parking lot, which alot of believe this is exactly whats about to take place. The lawyers are ready to pounce finally on this so called supurb young man that calls himself the Mayor. Good luck to you Chris and family on your new purchase. See how long this post stays up with the new PR lady having certain informative posts deleted. You have been warned at this point ... enough said!!

I would have thought he would be smart enough to contact a lawyer before making such a move knowing that it could cause a lawsuit? I wouldn't have posted this on here and gave him a heads up! Now he will be more careful.

It may all come out , but i don't think the city council or the majority of the citizens care. I guess all we can hope for is that something bigger and better comes along and he(the Mayor) moves on to another job.

Why do you folks waste your time bitching about the mayor. Anyone they put in office is going to be a crook just like the rest of them including all the dumb asses that work at the courthouse. Frankfort is a lost cause people wake up. Once Woodruff decided it would be bright to welcome in all the Mexicans the place went to the shitter. Not the same town that I grew up in in the eighties and nineties. I got the hell out and you should too!

Ok if they do turn around and sell that property then I agree with you that it was not above the board and people should be outraged. As far as the SIA warehouse, lumberyard, and Kroger getting away...shouldn't happen. I haven't heard anything about buying a factory for expansion of the airport except for on this site. That shouldn't happen either. But I don't think McBarnes was in office when SIA and Menards got away so let's just sit back and see what happens. You can't blame him for what the past administration has done. If you turn out to be right then I'll eat crow!
OK Seriously, have you heard about them buying the factory building for the airport yet? It happened!! I heard the mayor, dunn and ransom just got back from golfing together in Florida. Interesting.

Hey McFluff
How could it be inside information when the owner of the building in question has had a FOR SALE sign in the window for over two months?

I can see it being inside information if they went to the owner and asked him to sell but since the owner of the building has had a sign advertising the building for sale, I don't really see a case here. It was for sale to anyone willing to buy it. The opportunity was there for anyone to take. So they took it.

BTW, who are the lawyers you speak of ready to pounce?

He has good intentions. I believe he and the BOW are ignoring a huge problem with the slumlords in this city. Until this mess is cleaned up, Frankfort will never move forward because no one will want to bring their families into the neighborhoods of this city. Can't blame them. Buy a house.....slumlord buys the one next to you and turns it into an 8 bedroom boarding house. The city is worrying too much about the "Slumlord" signs than they are about getting rid of the slumlords.

No they backed out of it...too much pressure. Bad move! And yes the building was for sale BUT not everyone knew the city had plans to buy it and use it for Ivy Tech! McBarnes family did!!

"Just last year alone, we spent roughly $120,000 in dump fees" he said. "That could build a lot of new sidewalks. That could pave a lot of streets in our city".

This is a quote from the Journal and Courier dated Saturday March 9th 2013.
So it was ok to divert 100s of thousands of dollars to Ivy Tech?

I guess I'm the dumbass here according to most of you folk because I have an issue with taxpayers money being spent on a bldg when, by the mayors on words, that we have infrastructure issues, police and fire dept issues, and side walks needing replaced.

Good Question "Judged" THAT along with, your Mayor on WILO Friday March 8 statin "Economic Development will start DECIDIN Which Businesses are SUITABLE for the Downtown area in Frankfort now that IVT is going to be there." Then be continued with "If they are NOT suitable, the ECD Corp. will HELP THE BUSINESSES move from their EXCISTING downtown areas to a more SUITABLE area away from IVT." ALL this and don't forget The $122,000/year of YOUR taxmoney being paid to his ASSISTANT. ANYBODY wonderin why the JOURNAL/COURIOR is doin all this FREE press on your mayor and NUTIN out of your HOME TOWN NEWS?
