Once again the IJ never met a tax increase it doesn't support
The editorial board appears to be stacked with liberals

More free services/welfare for non property owners at the expense of others

If you call 911 and its due to your decision to use booze or drugs you pay an ambulence fee

For your taxes you get 2-3 calls a year
After that you pay
Nut cases making multiple calls
Just look at SF

Brad et. al - you failed to mention that CSA 19 (which includes Santa Venetia and Los Ranchitos) has built a OVER a SIX MILLION dollar surplus - yes - SIX MILLION.

and counting.

No other special district has a surplus this high - not even close. Check it out.
http://www.co.marin.ca.us/efiles/BS/AgMn/agdo...

And yet the CSA 19 tax jumps from around $85 (already too high) to a whopping $108. That's a 26% hike. With six million in the bank, how can they possibly justify this tax hike?

I can't be sure but it looks like CSA 19 residents pay the highest paramedic tax in Marin. Flood Zone 7 residents (also in the same area) traditionally pay the highest flood tax in the County.

Has North San Rafael become the County's piggy-bank?

The powers that be have declined to adequately explain this surplus. There's a vague mention of capital expenditures.

They're not fooling anyone here. The publicly available documents associated with the controversial Taj Mahal to public safety - the Emergency Operations Facility - state that a new firehouse will be built.

Many suspect the CSA 19 surplus will be used for this purpose - a back-door funding of the EOF. What irks many voters is that public officials have not come clean, cloaking the real nature of this tax by appealing to voter fears about paramedic response times.

Furthermore, it's possible that the paramedic tax is being used to pay the FULL firefighter salary while a mountain of surplus continues to build. Years ago, when the paramedic tax was first proposed, the tax was supposed to fund the cost DIFFERENTIAL between a firefighter and a paramedic trained firefighter.

Now I'm told the paramedic tax is being used to fund the FULL cost of a firefighter. I don't know if this is accurate, but I believe an investigation is in order.

Bring the paramedic tax back to the table AFTER our public officials have come clean about all of these questions and explained why they need that outrageous six million surplus.

So, how much do you pay for the library taxes? I now pay an additional $49.00 a year for the county, plus my local library zone tax of $36.00, not to mention all of the other things like schools, fire, sanitary district, city bonds, etc on top of the base tax. My property taxes are over the top, and I live in a modest home. I am paying more and getting less. If people are tired of being taxed to death that does not make them right wing loons!

I live in San Anselmo and had chest pain related to heart disease. I called 911 on my doctor's advice. I got a bill for $1400 for the trip to Kaiser.
So is that tax going to pay me back?
Do they charge you for putting out a burning building as well?
How about the police? Do they send you a bill for writing you a parking ticket?
Do they charge admission at town council meetings?

Soon we can't afford Marin.

Fund the paramedics, cut back in other areas.

The tax measures are always for essential services, never for lesser expenditures.

Time for our elected officials to make tough choices and use the money at hand. San Rafael just borrowed millions to fund pensions for the next two years.
