I'd like to ride the trails too but I've sorely missed that part of the watershed and can only say Hooray!

MMWD is not perfect, but compared to East Bay Mud and San Francisco Water Dept, it is actually quite progressive when it comes to public access. EBMUD requires a permit to use their watershed lands (only half of which is open to permitted access) and they ONLY allow hikers and horseback rides, even if you have an EBMUD permit you are NOT allowed access for biking. SFWD allows for NO public access for the most part, no hiking, no biking, no horseback riding... Both agencies also have more watershed lands then MMWD. So access issues need do be put into perspective. MMWD is actually providing public recreational access to two thirds of Mount Tam (MMWD has 18,000 acres on Tam and the state has 6,000 or so) and is providing it to ratepayers and non-ratepayers alike. It may not be perfect, but we should grateful for the access we do have.

1 million for 2/3 of a mile? Seems about double what it should be. Thankfully I have my own water on my property so your hands aren't in my pockets.

to "i was on Yolanda/Shaver today and it was Senior Sierra Club madness...like 25 of em, walking poles and all..."

you better hope your little butt (or maybe really big butt) should be able to hike when you are a "senior" and also be lucky enough to hold a walking pole as well when you are a "senior".

Way to go to all those "seniors" getting out there! What a blessing to be able to enjoy the mountain..........at any age.

oh and Steph,
good luck aging
hope you can be as fit as those seniors when you are their age someday.

remember..........KARMA

get off your high horse, i was in no way making fun of anyone! just pointing out that there was a huge clan of seniors hiking trail at the same time i was. i think that it's GREAT that ANYBODY is out enjoying the nature. why so jumpy? did something offend you? is "senior" a bad word?'cos i don't know how else to discribe the 70+ club. yes, the SENIORS and their walking poles are lucky to be out there. i am lucky to be out there. why don't you shut up and GET OUT THERE? and thanks for your well wishes on my aging. my butt couldn't be tighter at 37! also, i'm aging well due to healthy life style, lots of sleep, mucho exercise and a great skin care regimen. not a grey hair yet!!!
