Great. How about a real coffee house, a place where people can hang out and have beer and wine and coffee with comfortable chairs.

Also, the lack of a supermarket is telling. How about inviting the Good Earth in Fairfax to open another 100% organic market? You'd get all of southern Marin and the commuters heading to the bridgee to patronize it.

Finally the farmer's market.

Is it going to be a real farmer's market? Or, will it be a bunch of 7-11 mentality people selling soap and candles?

Rosenfield, 48, said he took out the trees as part of a plan to make the shopping center face Drake Boulevard and open up the view of the ferry terminal and Mount Tamalpais.... "Everyone in Marin loves the natural open space of Marin. Why not bring that sensibility to Central Marin?"
This guy obviously doesn't get the concept of life in Marin. In LA you cut down trees.
Businesses are leaving because this fool is raising the rents on them and because of something called the "great recession"....

so how is it that chopping down beautiful trees is green? even if you are not going to 'waste' them by turning them into something else, why waste the energy to remove what is already thriving? A view of the ferry terminal is not all that exciting from inside Larkspur Landing (I refuse to call this Marin Country Mart - stupid name), and for those of us on the outside looking in, a better view of the Triple A sign and 24 Hour Nautilus hardly competes with the previous trees.

Ha good luck, you lost Noonans, and E & O because your prices are just too high. Both those restaurants were going well, but your increase in rent was too much to bear.

The new story is that this Rosenfield guy is putting all of the remaining tenants on "month to month" as their leases expire until he decides whether or not he wants to "axe" them also. It's awful. This guy's got some balls if he thinks he is going to be shutting down Marin Brewing Company and Sushi Ko. And chopping down those trees was a HIDEOUS, wasteful idea. To hear that the City of Larkspur is in support of this is horrible!!!

MBC is the only reason to go to the landing anymore. If that is gone, I will never go there again. And bet you a dollar I can get a huge community boycott of this place too. That shouldn't be hard. What the hell are they thinking?!?

With the new Whole Foods and the great Antigua Mexican restaurant next to it in Mill Valley, there is no reason to go to Larkspur landing. The Alto shopping center is just as close to most of us.
No supermarket, trees chopped down, some clown from L.A...to hell with outside colonizers.

This center is such a sad state of affairs - ugly and totally uninviting. The closure of Noonans was a huge mistake. The space has sat empty and for what purpose??? GREED! The landlords REFUSED to negotiate (or in E&O's case no renewal) on the lease, therefore allowing the businesses to close in hopes of obtaining smaller more boutique style retailers. Did that work??? NO! Here you have a typical example of stepping over dollars to pick up pennies! I hope that MBC can sustain through this period of transition. It's a shame that the center is so pathetic. I find it hard to believe that it will resurrect itself into a profitable entity.

Jessica honey, you must be very new to the area because the road is called Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Not Drake Blvd. There is a difference. And the editors didn't notice this? Talk about accurate reporting…

I think he is correct. You gotta open it up.It is next to a major thoroughfare and it should face that thoroughfare.Afraid it would need a complete redesign though.Right now you can drive by it and not know its there.

At 64, I am starting to consider myself an old man. My 3 kids grew up in Larkspur. For almost 35 years I have taken the Ferry to and from work back to the Ferry Terminal (close to home), that whole time.

My wife and I have had a tradition of meeting at Larkspur Landing (like it or not) after I got off the Ferry from work for all of those 35 years, every Wednesday night for almost the whole time straight...

An old man deserves a martini if he is working hard and has a long standing Wednesday night tradition with his wife of FORTY years, right? Well, that's not possible after the long gone Scomas, Yet Wah, Acapulco, Baxters, Bermans...all the failed restaurants of decades past at this location.

So we diverted to Noonans, only to see it close because the center wanted more rent than what the space was worth. Then E & O, only to see it get pushed out when its lease expired a couple of months ago.

I ask you, as a guy who has lived in Marin my whole life and just wants a damn drink with my wife of almost 4 decades...who the hell does this Rosenfield guy think he is knocking businesses out of the Landing?

The place is special to my wife and I because she meets me there to pick me up after all these years...but now we are only left with Marin Brewing Company to salvage our "meet up".

If he loses Marin Brewing Company, a hug piece of culture to Marin County, then who the hell does he think he is promoting this place as a tribute to Marin??

Yeah, right, dipshit. Only the idiots from LA who have moved here wouldn't notice it. Everyone else who has lived here all these years knows where Larkspur Landing is. You go to 500 Larkspur Landing Circle to the Festival-Er-Century 4- to see a movie. The Airporter is there. If you are a member of 24 Hour Fitness, you go there. Otherwise, Marin Brewing Company, Bed Bath & Beyond and the Mariott.

Cutting down some trees is such an LA move.

This guy is an ass.

Larkspur Planning Director Nancy Kaufman is totally in bed with this guy Jim Rosenfield. She wants to give him everything he wants, and it is embarassing to the City of Larkspur. "We heard 2 or 3 complaints"...yeah right. Does Jim's wife know how much you Liiike his ideas? Mmm Hmm. Interesting.

God help us
Chopping down trees so we can see the yoga studio?
Look this aint rocket science
You have ferry boats dischaging 100s of people at your door step looking after a long and/or pissy day at bumper to bumper traffic on 101 northbound
You have a straight shot for folks from the east bay against traffic
The concept is NIGHTTIME DESTINATION
Never should have let Noonans leave
How about replacing it with a Hooters?
I miss Noonans! This guy Rosenfield wants to be a part of Marin but is destroying his portion of it. I hate him!! I want a martini and Thursday night Prime Rib night back!(Sorry, Marin Brew Co...I love you from time to time too...)
