Buying in East Hills
#1 Jun 29, 2007
East Hills is a village (incorporated in 1931 partly in the central-east part of the Town of North Hempstead and partly in the northwest part of the Town of Oyster Bay.
The small part of the Village of East Hills that is in the Town of Oyster Bay is in the Jericho Union Free School District.
East Hills is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the village name in their mailing address.
As occurs in all but one of Nassau County's 136 communities (2 cities, 64 villages and 70 hamlets), the Village of East Hills has a different border than does the postal zones that services its area. In this case, there is no "East Hills, NY" postal zone.
.....Village of East Hills..........1,450*
.....East Hills, NY ?????.....none
* Town of North Hempstead: 1,426 acres; Town of Oyster Bay: 48 acres.
Places within the Village of East Hills are in the "Roslyn, NY 11576", the "Roslyn Heights, NY 11577", the "Greenvale, NY 11548" or the "Old Westbury, NY 11568" postal zone.
For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns:
