Dowd's a high-priced piece of garbage, only one step above his scumbag client. They did everything they could to mislead the police and obstruct their investigation and only now when they are cornered are they playing nice. This kid is the definition of trouble and is almost universally disliked in every school he attended. A bad apple who's probably safer behind bars than he is on the streets. Look up the word's "lying scumbag" in the dictionary and Dowd's picture is there. He was probably out drinkin' with the kid right before Jeff got mowed down by this irresponsible dirtbag. Dalia baby, you're next!!!

plea deal? yes, no problem. here's the deal:
driver goes to jail for 25 yrs, no parole.
when/if he gets out never drives a motor vehicle again. if he is not a citizen he leaves the country.

After the arraignment, Dowd said that Sadian would seek a plea deal. "Isn't that the reasonable thing to do?" he said. "If we were preparing to fight, do you think we would have been at the police station in July?"

Yes you would have been turning in your client in July. You knew he was in deep and the cops were stalking him. You thought you could negotiate a plea early on and get your client a slap on the wrist. Now that the case is made a "plea deal" isn't "reasonable", unless of course your client wants to plead to Murder 2nd.

Defense attorneys make me sick.

I think if this kid were seriously remorseful he would have 1) stopped or at least called 911 or 2) gone to the police station immediately....not "days" later after speaking to his attorney.

I'd love to know who payin' for this high-priced windbag, Dowd. Family lives like a bunch of homeless in a tiny run-down house and acts like a bunch of animals and they can afford Dowd? Something's wrong here........Somebody with some juice is involved in how this case plays out...

FINALLY! A plea deal? Since when do you get rewarded for a hit and run? And while they're at it, they need to throw the mother in jail for obstruction.

No - the reasonable thing to do would have been to stop when he hit and killed the man. Now I hope they don't accept a plea deal and send him away for the maximum time allowed. Perhaps if he acted like a decent human being at the time of the incident a plea might be acceptable but he chose to run and now he should pay. He only went to the police after they traced the car to his mother. He didn't go in just to do the right thing. If they never contacted his mother or whoever it was that they "were asking around about him" as his lawyer said, I bet he wouldn't have gone to the police to turn himself in. The time and right to deal ended when he left the scene.

Mayer Sadian went to the police to talk about his role in the death of Dr. Seigel...his role was he hit the man with the car he was driving and drove away. Case closed. What other role could there be? Why didn't he just surrender when he went to the police?

This POS needs to be charged w/ 1st Degree Vehicular Manslaughter. Take his passport away & go to trial. No plea deal, his reckless disregard has already been displayed. Driving with a suspended license, etc. The least he deserves is a felony record for the rest of his life.

Funny, I don't see anything in that report about this lowlife having any remorse or sorrow for what happened. No apology to the family through his mouthpiece.

He has shown no mercy so he deserves no mercy. No plea deal, maximum penalty. Period.

"It's an incredibly strong case that took six months of solid police work to build," said spokesman Eric Phillips. "A criminal defense attorney has no role in the investigative process. We build cases to hold people accountable and we don't abandon that responsibility for a quick resolution that benefits the defendant." Ok but now you will let him make a plea deal. Unbelieveable, this piece of crap should be put behind bars for life, 19 years old and look at his record already he has no regard for human life, he proved that when he left this poor man dieing on the road after he hit him. Do use all a favor for once lock him up through away the key please so he does not ever hurt or kill someone else. This is ridiculous plea deal.

this attorney is the biggest bottom feeder of all time,it goes back to his disbarment in the queens parking meter scandal.
this lawyer has no principles.
everyone is entitled to a vigorous defense, but the case cannot be tried in the press.it has to play out in the courtroom.
if he thinks his client is so misunderstood, then why has it taken so long to come forward with this story,it should have appeared in the papers the day after this poor doctor was run down by this craven individual.

Unfortunately, the bad part of this, the DA will probably come up with a plea deal "to save taxpayer money". While I am all for fiscal responsibility, sometimes the tab must be allowed to climb so examples can be set that certain actions and behaviour is not acceptable.

Stop the name calling. It isn't helpful to play the anti-Semetic card. The man is dead, a family left without a husband and father. The suspect needs to be tried in a court of law. The suspect's driving record is deplorable and will be taken into account. Hopefully, fiscal issues will not win out over convicting this person.

If what Dowd is saying about going to the police right away then Kathleen Rice is also responsible for the Siegel family suffering so long and not having closure.
Sadian should be put away forever or deported if not a citizen!!!

For everyone who has any questions to how Mayer can afford such a high priced lawyer, dont any of you pricks have family that would help you out financially if you were in trouble and needed a good lawyer? Also, Mayer and the man that he ran over are both Jewish and it was a very unfortunate event but the court has to the final judgement as to what punishment to give to mayer. Also, Mayer and his mother are both fairly new to living in the United States so they are not as familiar with how to deal with the police as the rest of us are. Mayer's mother was being a mother when she didnt let the police talk to her son and none of us would let our family talk to the police if they were in trouble, we would all be telling them to keep their mouth shut until they have a lawyer with them. I am not defending Mayer but i dont feel like all these remarks help this situation at all by spreading more hate and my heart goes out to the family of Dr. Siegel.
