2 teens arrested in arson at Herricks High School -- Schools, N...

Two teen boys who set fire to debris and a wood fence at Herricks Senior High School on Thursday afternoon were arrested and charged with arson, the police said.

No, Herricks is not at all like Mastic. Its an upper middle class community and one of the best school districts on the island. The kids were probably just bored and wanting attention because their doctor parents are so busy working they dont give their own kids enough attention at home

Herricks is SO NOT like Mastic. I would strongly assume that the kids were bored, but, hey, whatever happened to playing video games...to set a fire, that is a problem...

are you serious..bored..i doubt it..you honestly have to think about it before you do it..they werent bored..they didnt want to take a test the next day..and youre right..whatever happened to being bored and playing video games or just watching tv..thats being bored

These two went about it all wrong - setting a fire at the school... sheesh! Why not just kill the teacher if they didn't want to take a test the next day?

Nice job parents raising a couple of immature firebugs. Off to the pokey with Bubba. Herricks happens to be one of the nicer towns on the Island. Very tony & posh. But arson can happen anywhere even in Herricks.

Herricks is a nice non commerical, dominated by residential (hence the high school taxes) community in Western Nassau that has a lot of parents who feel if theyre child recieved a bad grade, the teacher should be fired. I know, I went there. lol. Nice teachers if you give them a chance, whiney children.

uhm hello im from herricks annd it was in the softball field and they are both good friends of mine and no they werent bored and they didn't do it because of teachers but maybe they did do it for attention...stop assuming things and starting rumors!!

Herricks is a good school.
I really don't think anyone should judge anyone school based upon two disturbed kids.
If both of them did something it was because they wanted to. It has nothing to to with the school or its teacher or its community.
Its mainly the kids' faults and they will learn their lesson. I think everyone should be glad that no one was hurt or injured.

Every school has a few kids or more looking for attention. Herricks is a good place with amazing kids and great staff. Who cares about cultural it has nothing to do with it being a great school district or not. It could have been any race.

to some people on here...it does...believe me..if this was hempstead..roosevelt..this blog would have about 300 people on here already typing " its the breed" or "send the illegals back" its all about race when it comes to these blogs on a regular basis..

and another thing that funny about all this is..everyone is saying that herricks is a good school..and its probably is one of the best in nassau..but it seems that it all depends on the demographics of the school who seems to get more of " oh those kids are bad" compared to what they are saying about these kids in herricks...but people fail to realize that you do have kids that arent all about being destructive and disruptive in classes..you do have those that want an education but are still put into the mix of those same kids from hempstead or wherever else and are put into that same category..its always going to be a double standard
