"I don't know what the district attorney is trying to prove. It's just a pure accident.... A young boy of 19 was frightened."

How about proving that people need to take responsibility for their actions? Who cares if he was frightened? He took the life of another individual...father, husband. He chose to speed, he chose to keep going. Now, hopefully the jury will choose to put him away for a while.

Yeah, right, the punk is the victim.

His attorney should be sanctioned for even suggesting that as a "Defense".

Tis tis young men.....I have no witnesses, no morals and no conscience (kinda like someone who leaves a human to die on the side of the road) but in our great system, I'll create some reasonable doubt and hope there's just one imbecile on the jury who'll buy it....Next, I'm gonna get the driver of this mystery 2nd car that nobody saw to be held responsible for imploding the World Trade Center on the government's behalf....I'm a whore; I'll do anything for money and decency and responsibility will never stand in my way...on that, you can be assured.

it wasn't his grandmother house, it was his mother house.
the mother covered for him for months while he left the country.
the kid wasn't arrested until he returned to the US.
both the mother and son should spend the rest of their lives in jail. they both know what they did was WRONG.
what happens in other countries, doesn't happen here.

As much as I might appreciate your sentiments because this kid and his family are animals, they are not Muslim. They are Persian Jews, but were raised elsewhere. Nobody from around here would do what this kid did and then run to Mommy. He's getting it good in jail though, as he can barely walk into the courtroom......keep tossing those salads Mayer baby!

The defendent had a suspended license, and had a troubled past. Where are the parents and his Rabbi in all this? Who allowed him to take the car? Who was there to teach him right from wrong, that you don't run and hide or lie about what you've done. The "frightened boy" age 19 at time of accident was failed by his parents, friends and Rabbi. Why didn't they help him to stay away from alcohol and drugs? His wasn't born bad, he had bad parenting and advice from the Rabbi.

I've attended the trial. They're just doing forensics now. Dr. Siegel's tissue and DNA were found on Mayer's license plate and car doors. This red headed kid is going to make a beautiful "wife" for a lifer in jail. Scaring's "phantom" defense is nothing new and not really that creative. He'll bumble along (see Muttontown slave couple, his last clients - good job, guy, they're going away forever) and will hope to snag one idiot on the jury who'll buy this nonsense as reasonable doubt. The jury seems attentive and I hope they'll do the right thing. Jeff was a great doctor and great person. This loser took a great person from all of us. He's gotta pay big time.
