I hope they catch the person who did this! I would be devastated if it were one of mine, however I think cats should be kept indoors. I worked at an animal ER and have seen horrible things done to cats.

I keep my cat as an indoor cat, it's horrible you have to fear letting your pet outdoors because of what some sick sadistic idiot might do to them.

People don't realize that humans who are capable of hurting Cats or any animal are just one short link away from being able to hurt an infant or another person. Time and time again it has been proven that those who murder start out killing animals. This world is sick and is sinking from the weight of the human race. I hope this person ( more than likely a teen ) gets caught and sentneced. There is no excuse for this at all.

I've also worked at a vets office before. I helped take care of 2 cats and 1 dog that were poisoned with antifreeze because they roamed. It was the worst for the dog because he lingered for days. I worked the night shift and took care of him then. I had to carry him outside to defecate and he would vomit and excrete charcoal (this was fed to him to help absorb the antifreeze) and green goo. I kept him warm with hot water bottles and blankets and changed his IV. He went 3 days, getting worse all the while until his owners euthanized him. The cats had seizures and spasms and one went into a respirator for a few hours in an attempt to save it (they were different owners, different cases) but by the time I returned for my next shift, it had been put down. If the owners knew they would face large vet bills and a suffering pet, would they still be nonchalant about letting their animals roam?

Animals belong on the owner's property at all times. The cat was shot while in the yard the owner says, but they admit it is allowed to roam at will. The culprit is either a disgruntled neighbor sick of his pet or a bored kid up to no good. Either way, this is an excellent example of why cats should be raised as indoor animals. They won't miss what they never had. But once you let a cat roam, it will want to keep doing it.

I hope the moron left a finger print on the arrow. I know there are laws against animal cruelty but I don't feel they are severe enough. The punishment should be the same for abusing or killing an animal as they are for doing the same to a child-both are defenseless. And animal owners should keep their pets inside-I have two cats and would never let them out w/o being out there with them. Just can't trust other people...

It sickens me to think that people are so cruel and vicious that they attack innocent animals, one that is even in his own back yard! I understand if you do not like animals, no one has asked you to purchase one. But LEAVE our's alone. My animals are part of my family, if something like this happened to one of my "kids" I think I would have to "help" the police find out who did this, and maybe practice my bow and arrow skills on them!

How could someone shoot an arrow at a helpless animal and leave it there to possibly die? More people to need to keep a lookout for our strays and neighborhood pets and do the right thing and report these acts. We cannot tolerate this any longer.

How dare you insinuate that the owner is in any way to blame because he let his cat out in his yard. I have 3 who come and go in and out of my place as they please. I know it sounds strange but animals actually do like fresh air, sunshine, and laying around in the grass on a nice day. They don't do anything to bother anyone and if they did, I would hope that person would come knock on my door to confront me instead of doing something to them. You sound like one of those people who questions a rape victim's outfit or her behavior.

I also agree that this is terrible thing. However, animal hording is just as bad! People need to step up to the plate and take care of their animals if they are going to have them. Get them spayed or neutered. Do not allow them to add to the population problem that already exists. If you can not take proper care of it, do not accept it. We live in the country. We have dogs and cats show up all of the time. My wife cares for them, even though we can not afford it.
