"no initial indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash."

How can this be known? The woman who caused this young girl's death failed to STOP after she hit her. She went on home and contacted police several hours later. How can we/they possibly know that there was no drugs or alcohol involved??

I certainly hope that a very complete investigation is done into the drivers evening prior to hitting and killing this young woman.

The Parker family has my sympathies as they mourn the loss of their loved one.

What a horrible tragedy for everyone involved. My thoughts and sympathy are with Courtney's family as well as with the other party involved in this tragic accident.

I am amazed that you can find sympathy for a coward who just drove away. Sympathy would be given on my end had she not just left. You are a better person than I am, or maybe just a friend of the driver?

She does not feel too bad, she just drove away and left the child there to die. Had she felt bad she would have stopped. Maybe she feels bad now since there was no way to hide the damage and she had to fess up. I have gone over this and over this and I feel if she was so cold to leave she has no heart. Getting caught is all she feels bad about (in my opinion) I tried to put myself in her place so I could find some sympathy for her, its just not there. Shes a bad person who will probably get her little RAV fixed and go on with her life.

this is such a tragic thing that has happened!I feel that no body should judge until we all know what the truth is. put your self in the womans shoes for a second, what would you have done. im not saying what she did was the right way to handle what happen that night, but im sure the woman is going to suffer as well as the girls parents will. people do make mistakes in there life. I m praying for both sides.

Courtney was one of my students at GBHS who I absolutely adored. I had two student's named Courtney, so to me she was known as, and will forever be known as "Parker". I will never forget her beautiful smile, which lit up the gym (I teach PE), her playfulness and charisma, and that she could do more push-ups than most of the boys. Courtney was a phenomenal kid with a bright future, taken from us far to soon. This is the hardest thing I've had to go through in my 10 years of teaching. My heart and prayers go out to the Parker family.

God bless you Courtney Larren Parker and may you rest in peace. You will be sorely missed.

Justice will be served for the woman. She has a guilty conscious. I hope she has family that she will never be able to see again when she is sentanced to life for 2nd degree murder.

I truly belive that the driver was either drunk or high, that is why she went home and never thought twice about stopping. She had hours to think about it, I also believe that the only reason she turned herself in, is because it was just a matter of time before friends/family saw her car or a body shop company saw it and turned her in. There is no way on this earth that you don't know that you just hit a human being, unless you were drunk!!! I do not feel sorry for her. She had her choice to stop and do the right thing, but she ran like a coward. Now let the courts have their choice in her sentencing. I say throw the book at her. My heart goes out to the Parker Family, May God be with you.

How about this scenario Christine. The lady that hit Courtney was driving while intoxicated. She hit the girl, went home, slept it off and the next morning she sees the damage to her car. Knowing that no test now will detect alcohol and also that when husband, friends, etc. se the car questions will be asked she contacts the authorities.
I once hit a deer, I knew it was a deer yet I stopped to assess the damage to the car before continuing home.

Courtney's inner and outer beauty will live on in the young people of this community (GB). She was dearly loved and the kids have been deeply, deeply touched by her life and death. God bless the Parkers and all of the extended family and friends of Courtney Parker.

So what is supposed to happen? She feels bad (now) so we should just let her go on with her life like nothing happened? Of course people think badly of her. SHE LEFT! Would you feel the same if it were your child that she thought was so worthless? Tell your friend that she just killed a young woman, and showed her own children that when you make a mistake you just run away from it. Woo hoo, mother of the year! Are her kids of driving age? Was it really her kid that was driving and shes just trying to cover for them? I understand that this is your friend, but do you really have to pour salt in the wounds of Courtny's friends and family? I think the focus needs to be on them right now. Don't be so selfish. Nobody cares how this coward feels. Had she stopped, they would be a lot more understanding.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Virgo

You have a very high opinion of a certain person today, believing that they can do no wrong. But how realistic are you being? It looks as though you're viewing the world through rose-colored glasses, which is fine if it's only a temporary state but quite another matter if you're deliberately ignoring problems and pretending that they don't exist.
