are the "latin king" in Texas real?

I understand that Latin Kings are world wide and I have mad respect for what they accomplished. But are the "latin kings" in Texas real? I have family in Alice, TX. While visiting, I've had run ins with so called "latin kings". I've seen and heard things that are not very respectable.
