this is tragic. get off the freeway to change a tire if possible, esp at night, and for heaven's sake quit drinking and driving.

My sympathies go out to this young girl's extended family. My heart goes out to the survivor and to the driver, one life lost and two ruined forever.

Nothing fitting will happen to the driver. Recently a friend of mine was killed by another drunk driver and got 6 years with parole in 3....yet I read in the paper that a rapist gets 25-life...how does that make sense?
Take a life, LOSE your own!!!

this is why people take the laws into their own hands. the legal system will slap this guy on the hand and he'll be out and drinking again in about 3 years

Nineteen...she was just a teenager. I feel so sad for both of the girls and their families.
This happened to a man from our neighborhood when he was trying to help a lady with a flat tire. He was killed by a drunk driver as well.
If you see a person with a flat in an unsafe area you can call the California Highway Patrol.
If you have a flat they will stay there with lights on and call someone for you to fix the tire.
Most women and teenagers should have road assistance like AAA so they won't be in as much danger.

AAA is worth every penny! They are not that expensive. It is too bad so many people don't realize what they do for you, including possibly saving your life! My son just started driving and he has his AAA card in his wallet and has been told to use it if necessary.
We had a flat tire one rainy day on the 57 freeway. The AAA tow truck came and the driver, probably in his mid to late 20's, had to lie down in the gutter of muddy, running water to put the jack under the axel of my van because the bumper wouldn't hold it. I felt bad for him and apologized for the conditions. He said, "Don't apologize. I just enjoy helping people." After he changed the tire, he followed us a couple of exits on the freeway to be sure everything was working OK. I really appreciated his attitude.
