Does anyone think that there is just too much gambling going on everywhere these days? So much access, so much dependency on it for tax relief. I personally find no entertainment in it, and from all accounts, it has destroyed more than a few people and families. Addiction in any form is horrible, but it seems our culture likes to promote and exploit the worst in us. I feel sorry for the priest's family and friends. It's so sad that it got so out of hand.
You think you're sad Saddened. Think of how this priest's bookie feels! You know what the juice is on 112 large?

This priest deserves whatever punishment he gets, I hear he bet all the Notre Dame games. What a loser.

To YuckYuckYUM:
Your reaction sounds like a sorry little cliche. You obviously have been robbed of your imagination and creativity and can no longer think for yourself if you are so dependent on what the catholic church teaches. Imagine this: I'm disappointed in the church, but I've moved on. Don't look to me for any "thick or thin" loyalty. The church didn't live up to it's end of the deal, and it's over. Only God will judge me, not make-believe holy men.

I knew him. He is a good man and does not deserve the sad things said about him in this blog. He is a man with a problem. Help him, pray for him and hope the same thing doesn't happen to you.
I don't know this man but I met a lady the other day who said he was a fantastic preacher able to deliver an awesome homily. We must all remember that it is only by God's Grace that we ourselves have our sins forgiven. Perhaps I am not a thief but I do covet my neighbors house and hide feelings of jealousy and envy deep in my heart. If we could only allow our savior Jesus Christ to sit in judgement of our sins. I pray we show this man mercy. Who know's he may lead thousands of people to Christ during his journey of repentenance. The apostle Paul was a murdering scoundrel before he wrote two thirds of the Gospel. We as Christians must let this go and leave it in God's hand because only God knows John Regans heart when he gambled the funds. Praise God that Jesus will be our judge I would hate to have St. Walters Parishioners sitting in my courtroom.
