Got to love you NE Ohio residents with your low income standards; Old Man Grump acts like $65K is king's wages. Our illegal immigrant laborers in TX make more than that.

Wake up; this is why you live in the worst economic climate in the US. You are barking up the apple tree constantly, when the orange tree is bearing fruit!!!

I loved Tallamdge growing up; but these thoughts are why I had to leave.

how this wil improve things "for the children".
It won't. There needs to be an OSA (Ohio STUDENTS Association) union.

Around here,$65K IS king's wages (unless you happen to be one of Mayor Don's favorite son's, then that is a half year salary).

$65,000? Try $34,000. That's what my spouse makes as a full-time teacher in a local public school system with a Masters Degree.

One day teaching jobs may be outsourced or covered by someone with a work visa, that job will only pay $25,000 then.

I'm afraid $65k is not King's wages after spending 30+ years in the same profession.

That's what's needed, acouple more unions. Worked out well so far, huh? The University has a student union, food wasn't too bad.

Does this mean that Akron Teachers will do more in the class room to "teach"? Instead of crying about what they don't make?
I had a son walk away from school because he said all the teachers did was talk about what they need to receive in their contract instead of teaching the students. He received a better education in another state..SAD
No teachers do not stand around talking about there contract, sounds like mom made this up.

Wow 3% annual raises for doing what Akron Teachers?????

Only meeting 8 of 30 Indicators

An 83.7 Performance Index Score

Not Meeting the Adequate Yearly Progress

Achieving an overall Continuous Improvement rating

It's a sad day when this type of performance is rewarded. I would hope the voters in Akron tell the school board, administration, and teachers this is unacceptable performance, and not pass any new school levies until they do a good job, and meet the state standards.
You Canton folk, you guys must be envious, tell you what go get a masters degree and get some of the good life until then, stop ragging on us and attack the capitalists that keeps all of us oppressed!
