I am so sick of cheap and lazy slumlords and property management companies! They should have to be punished but living in one of their code violating, unrepaired units!

Curious.....does anyone know if the apartment management are responsible for housing the evicted folks or do they have to find their own alternative housing?
TIA~

That's what happens when out-of-town folks start buying up property with no intent of keeping the places looking nice.
All they want are greenbacks in their bank accounts and nothing else.

In Michigan the apartment management/owner is not responsible. The evicted people are on their own.

what sucks is the fact that i live there and yet they give us no more information than what we read in the paper and online. you would think that somebody would be giving the tennants some answers to these questions.

What would happen if all the tenants refused to pay their rent until repairs and code violations were brought into compliance?

Would the property management begin eviction proceedings?

What would a judge say if the tenant pointed out the code violations and said the property owners misrepresented the conditions of the rental units in the lease?

I would think the tenants have some legal recourse against not only the property managers but also the owners of the rental units.

The residents have that right, but there is a catch. They had better darn well document everytime they requested something be done and put the rent monies into escrow so when they are served an eviction notice for non payment, they can take it to court and when the judge asks, they have the money to pay it in full when the time comes.

Does a tenant have the right to contact owners of a apartment building when not happy with management. Management at my apartment building will not give me contact information to owners. I don't believe some information They do not charge everybody the same rent and they don't increase rate the same to everybody. Some rate increases are 10.00, others can be 20.00 to ?. Also carports are not the same amount to everybody.

When you enter into a lease agreement with your apartment complex that lease is between you and them. They have no obligation to raise rents or fees the same for every tenant. There is no obligation to provide you with the building's owners numbers or contact information. That is usually delegated to the building or site management. Most times tenants do not even know who owns the building they live in.

So does the management set the rent for everybody. Does the owners not set a general rate.

I don't know. I suppose that would be up to the individual landlord.

You have the right to know who the contact people are for your building. It all depends on though if it is a private individual or a management company that runs your property. Which property do you live on?
