What the Eff is going on over by the USA gas station on Suffolk Ave? Across the street on that yellow wall over by where that Haitian grocery store used to be is an array of neighborhood decay! As this summer past I have noticed an increase of hookers trolling my neighborhood, in the daylight! This is up and down Hawthorne and down half mile to gibbs.
Young strung out looking chicks with backpacks. At least 2 dozen different girls. I also see new faces. Men that don't belong here- walking with these women and hanging out on Carlton and over at Solo. What disturbs me the most is after 7pm any day of the week that area on church over by USA is a free for all. I never saw such madness in this area and I have been here for 15 years! What happened? My neighborhood was once a safe, nice, diverse place to raise a family. Why are the police letting this occur? I mean it's no secret, just roll up any day of the week by USA and you will see what I mean. Its almost like a whole brothel moved in. It's really crazy. The stds, and patrons this brings, and the drugs will surely destroy anything good that's left in this town. Also, what is up with the asian man selling porn out of his truck. Yes belt and sock man I'm talking to you! You can not come into residential streets where children play and solicit porn DVD sales out your car and cover it up selling trinkets and socks! Come on people! Don't you see what's going on here? CI, a place where you could buy that starter home, on a nice block- is turning into the ghetto at ever corner. Wake up my neighbors and call the police every-time you see something that's not right! Check it out yourself if you don't believe me.

I am sorry to hear this is happening in your neck of the woods. Post this for people to read in shopping centers, neighborhoods, ask for other people to make copies and spread it around.

If you want cockroaches to disappear, you must turn on the lights, shine a light on this infestation. They will eventually have to move to another location to infest. Defend your neighborhood. It only has to start with you.

Post a copy at the local church's in your area, at the school, bring it up at PTA meetings, at the bus stop, even if you don't have children, go out there and hand your neighbors a flyer that you make yourself. Ask them to make copies and pass it around.

Put your elbow grease into it, defend your property value, if you don't, don't expect anyone to do it for you. Good luck!

Legalize drugs & prostitution and 2 things will occur. One, the national deficit would shrink in half within 5 years with all the tax revenue collected. Two, crime will fall precipitously where the reduced backlog in the justice system will be felt widespread.

I'm sorry to hear that C.I. has fallen even further. I lived there in the 80s and 90s and it was not nice. Sounds like the trash has spread to the other side of the tracks now. It used to be that the RR tracks were the divider , if you're talking Gibbs and Half Mile, it certainly has spread. Do yourself a favor and get off the Island altogether. It has only so much space, while the the illegal and city trash moving there is endless.

I live in CI, over by where this is all going down on church street. I can't believe that this is being allowed to go on every single night. Two nights ago some dude was shirtless and high running up and down church and Suffolk ave. I can't let any of my kids out to play after school. I have 6 little girls and I am sick over what is going on. Why won't the police stake out and run this trash out! Prostitutes running church street all summer long now they are using the the steps of h and r block as a shooting gallery and a rest stop. It's going on right now as I write this and it's not even 8 pm.

Lack of effort by the community to contact the police department and make complaint. It's always someone else's problem even if it's in their neighborhood. Shame.

I think it is more like the highest paid cops in the country don't live in C.I. They can live in nice areas and insulate themselves and alienate themselves further from the people they have to deal with. It doesn't affect their loved ones, so it doesn't matter to them. If you pay the police a huge amount of money, you'll get people doing the job for the money. That is not the reason someone should want to be a cop. This isn't a sales position, it shouldn't be money motivated. You know if this were going on in the officers neighborhood, they would rectify it quickly and by any means. It all comes down to $ like everything else in this country.
