He was not drinking. He was having marital problems and was out with his partner discussing the issue.

Dear Concerned and No_bama,

Please use caution as friends and family will read these comments (such as myself.). Never assume the worst about anyone, especially about people you don't know. We're all devastated by losing Rob and I don't want to think his daughter or wife might one day come across malicious remarks in an Internet archive somewhere.
Rob, we love you and we miss you. You're in our thoughts and prayers as we have traveled down a road which will never be long enough.

With love,
A lifelong friend

Please leave Rob's personal business personal no matter how good your intentions. A simple 'No, he wasn't works. He is missed by everyone.

Martial problems and drinking go hand in hand.
May he rest in peace and thank you for your military service brave soldier.

Driving east bound in a BMW in the wee hours of the morning with little to no traffic. Let's see, sounds like a perfect oportunity to open that baby up (after socializing) to see what she'll do. Guess he figured if he got stopped he would just wip out his get out of jail free badge and be sent on his merry way. Since he was ejected from the car he probably wasn't wearing his seat belt either. Sounds like he broke every driving rule in the book, but that's OK, he was a cop and they get to do what they want. Do as I say not as I do.

Do ya think I kinda hit the nail square on the head?

Anyway I'm truly sorry to hear of his untimely death and my condolences to his family and friends.

Seems like a "stange" headline...the Cop was a "marine" ...a lot of people killed in accidents were Marines....what does his "service" record have to do with this tragedy????

I doubt his friends and family will be reading this, let alone Rob.

Some of these comments about this man who lost his life are absolutely sick. He had a family and lost his life too early. Just replace his name and face with any one of your family members and read these responses. Perhaps you will gain some heart and perspective.

"socializing"? So we should have sympathy for a drunk driver?
It's okay because he killed Iraqis on request? Would he still be a hero if he'd killed somebody else too?

Sorry, he messed up and did it to himself. My sympathy goes to his family, but his death should be a warning, not an advertisement for irresponsibilty.

Give the man the gignity and respect he deserves, as well as his family. He lost his life, don't pass judgement on someone who can't defend themself. A child lost her father and a wife lost her husband. RIP brother.

We are lucky that it was early morning and their wasn't to much traffic or this cop could have killed someone else. Why the double standard? He was a reckless and dangerous driver, good riddens.

After the amount of traffic accidents police see, I am surprised he would drive that reckless. May be he was pursuing someone.

There is no double standard in my eyes. If he was drunk driving, it was certainly wrong and he paid the ultimate price. I just do not agree with stomping on his grave. Saying "good riddens" proves your lack of class and compassion.

Sickening - Speaking as an adult child of alcoholics here(not inferring anything about the victim), people are people. Had either of my parents killed themselves in a vehicle it would have been a relief.

Speaking as a sheeple "Drunk driving is wrong." It's been drummed into me by countless public service messages and other tax funded media campaigns. Yet, because the establishment says he's a hero, we should feel sorry? If he wasn't a cop,
or if he would have killed somebody like that female rookie that killed a peer on the wantagh pkwy on ramp, they'd be having a trial and not a parade.

Death is always sad, self induced death is sad _and_ stupid.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Aquarius

Avoid making promises today, or even believing in other people's promises. Today is not a good day to make commitments, as they are not likely to materialise. Taking risks is a no-no. Try to relax until the numbers are in your favour. Those pursuing their career will benefit.
