An armed robber entered the Hallmark Store in Romeoville, Illinois today at approximately 3:45pm. The place was surrounded with police and FBI. They are looking for a Male in a White Cargo Van. It's a good thing for surveillance cameras, not only in the store but the parking lot.

With the economy and job loss, I anticipate a higher crime rate in all cities and suburbs.

I was there right about 4:30, had to stop in Dominicks on my way home.
The police had the doors to the Hallmark store propped open and roped with yellow police tape. They were cruising thru the drive-thru at National City, in the Dominicks parking lot, and were walking thru Ace, Dominicks, and it looked like some of the other stores in that strip. I got what I needed and got out of there. Don't know if they caught whoever did it and didn't feel like sticking around to watch it happen. But scary to say the least, now that I know what happened. There was nothing in any of the papers about this this morning either!

Just exactly what would you like, personal phone calls to each residence in town?
I'm sure the PD was a bit more focused on the task at hand and rightfully so!

Well, Hallmark is very expensive. Too expensive. Overpriced. Maybe the fool thought they would have a lot of money. I cannot remember the last time I was in a store and saw a person pay with cash. It all seems to be credit and debit these days. I would think a robber would not waste their time.

Well, it would be nice to know what happens in the town you freaking live in for the simple fact of having small children and keeping them safe not to mention keeping yourself safe. Not only that when you here things second hand like with this...are you getting the full story or... is it like the telephone game all it does is turn into a tall tale with people misconstruing what really happend because they really don't know, then you get people even more worked up about things and they start living in fear that this could happen to them where they work, where they live. So, this is why it should be reported!!

I was over there about 4:30 and when one woman that was coming into Dominicks asked an officer what happened he told her that nobody was hurt but that there had been an "incident". I mean seriously, why not just tell her there had been a robbery and that the suspect used a weapon? I think we as citizens deserve to be informed.
As for what they thought they could get from Hallmark, I would assume that it was more a matter of it seeming an easy mark due to the fact there are nothing but nice ladies that work there.

I think the police did the correct thing in this case. Telling someone there was a robbery could, through modern communications, flood the scene with onlookers. That can in turn interfere with the search for evidence or the suspect.
I agree that the people in the village should be informed by the police, via the media, of whats happening. Lets see if the Police release the details they can.

Another brilliant ijit, come on Hallmark. If I were in there I would have beat him to death with a snoopy figurine. After the Lane Bryant massacre who knows what these pieces of crap will do. It is time for everyone to start carrying concealed guns. These D-bag politicians will never pass the right to carry that all but two states have. By the way Mayor Jerkoff Daley with his security detail can go piss on someone else's leg about gun violence. Stop these animals from having 10 kids by age 20 and that will stem your problem you worthless and corrupt (just like Daddy) POS.

ROMEOVILLE -- A gunman robbed Rand's Hallmark around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The man entered the store at 439 N. Weber Road, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. Afterward, he fled into the parking lot, possibly leaving in a white, full-sized van.
The robber is a Hispanic male, about 30 years old, 5-foot-6 and weighing 150 to 170 pounds. He wore a green sweater, dark-colored pants, beige gym shoes and a white baseball cap that read "Fighting Illini."
Anyone with information on this crime should contact the Romeoville Police Department.

I never see cops in that parking lot when I go to Dominicks. Not a suprise a store there was robbed. Romeoville should quit worrying about selling rain barrels and start protecting the residents with more police.

The ladies and customers were shaken up a bit. The store resumed business the next day.

We must all be vigilent now and always.

i dont know where in romeoville you live but there is more police than ever in romeoville. they increase the unmarked cars and also now have 2 cops in most of the cars. they are on a regular basis by dominicks, so i don't know where you get your information at. just because you don't see them, does not mean they are not there.don't know about you but i feel safe in town and need no protection .

I pass Dominicks everyday in the morning and in the evening. I often see a patrol car in the lot. I know they patrol there regularly because one time my son was sitting in the car waiting for me to come out of the UPS store and the cop told him to move or he would get a ticket. So they're there, you just can't see them, which in a way is good because chances are the potention crooks don't see them either.
What happened at the Hallmark store was unfortunate, but that is the first time I have ever known any of those shops up there to be robbed, with the exception of one on the other side of Weber last year. I believe it was a payday loan store type of place, and those places just invite trouble.
I see more police presence in Romeoville than I do in the downtown area of Lockport, that's for sure.
