I don't know why people are complaining about haskins..he's been out to a lot of middle school games ...supports the younger players and invites them to their practices...if u don't bring them that's your fault...way to help your kids get better...unlike most high school coaches he supports his players playing travel ball in summer time even when their playing in summer league...my son plays for him and plays on a travel team and he supports it..way to go haskins more coaches should be like him....to many high school coaches think their way is the only way....that's why they struggle! I like that he doesn't dictate where my son has to play his travel ball says a lot for the man..I can tell you this his upcoming teams are going to suprise a lot of you haters...highschool ball has been a joke the last 25 yrs let the man right the ship.

Can we say 10-27! I have seen, played with and played against his "upcoming talent" and their is nothing special there!JV is nothing to talk about, Sophmore was so bad they had to bring in freshman just to have a team and the Freshman squad is small, undiciplined and filled with to many daddy ball players.

well I guess agree to dis agree I don't. Know who u are maybe angry parent or ex coach who got canned...but you obviously don't know talent if it bit you in the ass..I'm not saying their going to be eliete status ...I know the competition at the age of his freshman and incoming freshman and plainfield north will be ateam to watch...but they will be better then the last 25yrs....you need to take a zantec and relax because your obviously a hater and just here to bash to satisfy your own meaningless life just so u can feel good even if its for the few minutes it takes you to type.... oh and your commit the freshmen is small??? What the hell does that mean? U don't have to be 6ft 5 and 280 to play baseball..avgain lack of knowledge on your part

My son didn't go D1 because he's still in high school IDIOT! My son played for Haskins last year and it was AWFUL and he won't be trying out this year. His coaching tactics are horrible, all he wants is for everyone to bow down to his ass.

Coach Haskins does a tremendous job with what he has to work with. He has the difficult task of revamping a program and in turn must change a culture of a losing program. He also has to deal with the fact that the school had a deal with Fuel and had open gyms for the boys to get work in, and only a handful of boys should up until now 2 weeks from tryouts. So maybe its the dedication of the boys that is the problem and not Haskins himself. Most of the trashing of Haskins has come from those whose kid didn't get playing time or didn't have results when they played. Its called the evolution of sport and people in this town need to deal with that. Also, and I feel its very fair, that perhaps some are rewarded for hard work while others who may have more talent sit because they are not working and running to mommy and daddy to complain. As for the small freshmen... that makes no sense. They are average height up to, I believe the tallest 6'1". The only one who is undersize, if 5'4" is undersized for a freshmen, throws 82 and is a ball player. In addition, only one has a dad who coached. Reality is that this years varsity has enough pitching to be good, but won't be able to hit enough. Hopefully, with some of the problems players and parents out of the way the boys can improve 5 wins more this season. Most people need to actually see Haskins work with the boys and let him do his job. I hope he has the opportunity to coach my son next season when he is a freshmen. Until then we will support the players who my son knows and the coach, as oppose find reasons not to support the program.

If you knew anything about the man, you'd know he doesn't engage with stupidity. He has enough problems turning nonbaseball players into below average baseball players

A few years ago, we had a record number of wins (i believe 20+), a good talent pipeline, improved play on/off field, improved home field facilities, off-season conditioning programs and a large contingency of kids wanting to play baseball at RHS. According to your post, Haskins is being tasked with turning around a program that was absolutely crap! The program experienced greater success prior to Haskins arrival (lets not forget 10-27). Instead of continuing the momentum forward, we have taken steps backward. Their has also been rumors of Haskins bullying young men and that has had an affect on the number of kids wanting to play ball at RHS.

I can see you are already prepared for another season of failure by suggesting the team can't hit. Next year it will be we are to young, then the next year we just don't have the pitching and so on and so on.

As for the size thing, RHS is average size for Romeoville and only Romeoville. In comparison to other communities our kids are generally undersized.

This amount of typographical errors will prevent a lot of people from taking you seriously.

And size does matter. My son plays D1 in the MVC and I can say, that all other things the same, coaches will take the big kid over the small. Of course there are anomalies, but by-and-large, that is the "rule."

Not that I owe you an explanation, but my kid is not a quitter he just chose to do another sport that doesn't involve Haskins. Just because he no longer wants to do baseball does not mean he's a quitter nor does it mean he will not succeed. From we he has achieved academically and athletically, I couldn't be prouder. To me and him, baseball is not the most important thing in the world. First and foremost he should be a student athlete, not an athlete student.

Well your an idiot and yes certain position may require size but not all..my friends kid holds a lot of school records for his collage at an astounding 5ft 8...and he's a middle infielder who now plays double a ball for the florida marlins...wow now that's size! Look around in collage ball and see the number of kids between 5ft8 and 6ft1 I think you might be suprised..

to be honest I have better things to do then to look back at my typing errors and could care less who takes me seriously..I'm glad your son plays d1 good for him and 8 hope the best for him..as far as d1 d2 or d3..kids need to get that out of their mind...when looking at schools they need to see what fits them and their needs beyound baseball...their major, the money being offered to them ect....

And here come the Smith kisser's. It was a known fact we he was around all you had to do was chum up to him so your kid can get playing time. He was replaced for a reason. Maybe the fact he'd go out with parent at AVM for pizza and call them to bring doughout and coffee to him... Expecting someone to give their best is not bullying a person. Rumours are exactly that. Some kid that doesn't work hard and gets it from his coach then goes home to mommy and complains and mommy goes out and bashes coach. Thats where you get your rumours...Someone also mentioned a pipeline of talent when Smith was coaching. Umm, That pipeline went to JCA and other schools well before Haskins showed up. Fact is, if you don't keep up with this game year round you fall behind. Look at what others schools are doing and what HS level travel programs are offering and tell me the kid who goes from one sport to another can effectly keep up with ones who work year round. Then look at our wonderful youth programs and compare. Romeoville soccer is taking off because it is run well from the foundation up. Baseball in this town is hell on earth with kids flocking out of town just so they do't have to deal with mismanagment and bullcrap. Get real, it isn't always the coach. Sometimes kids can't hit or they can't throw a strike, and their parents still refuse to tell them they should try something else.(don't try soccer, I wouldn't want you people to mess up the only good thing we got right now). To me, Haskins is doing just right, getting the crappy parents and kids riled up and shipped out. There also a reason why everyone who has a kid in youth baseball and has worked with Haskins has nothing but praise for him.
Well then

Then why do you call yourself baseball mom? Should you call yourself "choose to do somthing else mom"? your right though, if he isn't good enouh to the point a coach rides him and doesn't like the sport he should do something else.

Maybe you should learn how to spell and type before you criticize others. Also, how many players from last year's team are playing in college? Coach Smith sent 20+ kids to college. Who cares if it is D1 or not. I don't know who your kid is but I can guarantee you that he will not go D1, or D2, and probably not D3 either. And maybe you should check your facts first before you talk all high and mighty about this year's team. The 2008-2011 teams were pretty damn good, just couldn't get over the hump. Parents ALWAYS say this will be the year. This year will not be any different than the last handful. Also, look more into your coach Haskins that you are putting a crown on. He is not a good person and he should have been fired long ago.
