Very sad news - Ray Holloway has passed away

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our Village Clerk, Raymond Edward Holloway. Ray passed away on Thursday, August 19th.

Ray was elected to the position of Village Clerk of Romeoville for a four-year term in May 2005 and again in May 2009. He retired from the Valley View U365 School District as the Transportation Education Coordinator. He also assisted the transportation department in conducting workshops and training sessions focused on bus driver safety. He proudly served on the Transportation Improvement Committee. Prior to Ray's work with Valley View School District, his career in transportation had spanned more than 30 years he had been involved in everything from driving for the Marines Corps, to handling eighteen-wheel trucks, to being in charge of school bus safety and a school bus terminal manager.

Ray, the oldest of ten children, joined the U.S. Marines Corps immediately after high school. He was stationed in Okinawa , Japan. Ray was also a Vietnam Veteran with 2 years as an American Legion Member. He was married to Bernice. They moved to Romeoville in 2001 from Maywood , where they were residents for twenty-seven years, raising two sons.
