New people that are hires will be making $5.00 an hour less than the previous low tier. Imagine a tier 1 making $25.00 an hr next a tier 2 making about $16.00. The poor newly hired will make only $11.00 and hour. How can someone making that little even take care of themselves let alone a family?

I work there and this sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me! All new hires get hired at $12/hr and are what's called spare helpers. People who assists the machine operators. Once they can be signed off on enough helper jobs they're hourly wage increases. After four jobs it' like $14.50/hr and after 6 jobs it goes up to over $16/hr. Also if they get trained as an operator, some jobs pay $23/hr.

this is how union plants roll. the worthless employees make the same as the mass producers. promotes mediocrity across the board and limits the potential of great employees. worked well for Detroit.

Ok you moron! I stated a fact, unlike that guy did. Where else in Rome can you be hired at $12/hr starting out (the work is very easy also) and in a matter of two months be up over $17/hr? I'm not talking about tech jobs on the base either. Most guys at Revere have only a hs diploma or GED and make anywhere form $45,000 to $70,000/yr with some guys up around $90 -$100,000/yr with all the overtime. Not including really good health care/401K and many other benefits.

I know people who work at Rome DFAS! Maybe some would start out that high depending on the position, but I guarantee, it isn't across the board! Don't worry, Revere isn't going anywhere anytime soon sweetie! As if DFAS is guarantee!

Actually an entry level position in this area would be around a GS4 or GS5 level, which is approximately $15.50/hr. Which is about median income for this area. Fed positions are based off of a locality rate. Please refrain from posting when you clearly know nothing of economics.

There is a place in the world for "entry position jobs" a stepping stone to a position that pays better BUT requires more skills. Consider it paid training of sorts. This is not an excuse for a shady employer to underpay a qualified person, but sadly, some do.
