i bet it's the aircraft they have stored at the old cruise missle site. i heard that they have armed guards around there. special aircraft the government don't want you to see. they only fly them at night because they make no noise.they won't let you within 5 miles of the old missle site.

What missle site? Are you referring to the weapon storage area? There is and never was a missle site, as for five miles well the base itself is not more than 1.4 of a mile wide. You really need to lay off the pipe.

And you would be wrong as well its just EADS now....now the base is used as a deployment hub the planes you see are stationed here they are not national guard they are active and they only fly to deploy units from other bases and they use griffis as a training base to do touch and gos also the "747" you see are not 747here they are 727 and are going to premier aviation for repairs and there is still rome labs so yes the base is still very active it was not closed it was realigned

Hey Stumper there is no active AF uits operating out of Griff. The C-17's and C-5's are all guard planes out of Newberg NY, and other guard bases in the Northeast such as Newark, Maine and Mass. There are also some from DEL, PA. There are once in a while 747's,727, DC 10's L1011's but they are like you said being refitted for commerical private carriers. The Army is using Griff for Medivac training, but they are also guard units. So let people think what they want. We re-located all the little green men when the base closed, and filled in all the underground facilities.

I was refering to Active AF flying units. RL has actually less than 100 active members, and DEFAS has about as many. EADC have 20 active members and the rest are reserves.

There's a underground base with nuculear war heads, Northern East Air Defence or something like that, and there's a underground research lab
