It looks like the Rome School district is finally going to get to break away from the incompetent Board of Education and Super Simons when Gov Cuomo takes over the school district due to mismanagement and constant poor performance. Boo Hoo for you!!!!

Well... I don't think anyone could do a worse job for the tax payers of Rome than Simons and the present school board. The truth are in the numbers- regardless of the lame excuses they continually put in front of the residents of Rome.

I remember when it was the kid's fault if they didn't do homework, study for tests, put in any effort to learn, misbehaved in class and were just generally unmotivated to learn. Now it is the teacher's fault. Sorry, the fault lies with the "parents"(more like sperm and egg donors) if they don't raise their children properly.

You are definitely 100% correct on this. These children are either so spoiled they make the calls in the home, too many single parent households with no decent role models ,no parenting. If you give birth or have sex you are responsible for that child. Raise them with respect, morals and rules. Parents stop giving your children everything they want and bring afraid to say no. Old school raising needs to come back. Stop blaming everyone else and take a look at how you are or are NOT raising your children. Yes,I have 2 children who were raised with repeat and rules and they have both graduated in honors and are both in college pursuing their dreams. All it takes is proper guidance, rules, respect .

i ALSO remember when the Teachers CARED about the kids. They wanted the kids to pass. The rome teachers only care about there paycheck! Get rid of them & get in teachers that care & want to TEACH!

From the article:

"According to Cuomo’s statement in a Buffalo News article, districts would be given a length of time to improve before the state takes action that would include the state or city mayor taking over."

Don't worry everyone, Joe Fusco will be put in charge of the Rome schools.

Well anytime my children were in school extra help, tutoring was available. Can't force someone to do something their or their parents could care a less about. Go back to the blame game,it's a easier solution for you I see.

I didn't think the topic was pointed at the teachers -but the superintendent and the school board. Most teachers care about their students and do their best to help them succeed. But when the person who is charged with running the administration is only looking for his next big pay day, when he moves on or retires, leads the school board around like puppies on a leash the system of checks and balance is broken. Unfortunately, the students ultimately suffer because of bad policy decisions of the administration.
