How much now a days is a no seatbelt ticket, because the cop had nothing better to do. Oh wait here comes the "it's the law" sheeple

I just want to know how much it is now a days, even though I plan on fighting it

Seems like every ticket comes to $120 now. Even if reduced to a lesser charge everyone seems to be paying $50 fine and $80 surcharge. I am not sure for a seat belt ticket but while you are in court count how many people have the same fine. Pretty good that my unsafe start ticket which got reduced to opening a door in traffic cost the same as someone who had a speeding ticket. I'm not sure how the figure it.

Yeah it's the cops fault for enforcing the law. Typical idiots. I agree I'd add on just for having a attitude. Well deserved.

Look at all the hate against the thread starter, and they are the ones filled with hate. I never wear my seatbelt, never. I been in accidents before, very bad ones, and guess what, nothing ever happened to me, but this when I was younger the car flipped over, and gas was leaking along with oil, AND I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT STUCK UPSIDE DOWN FOR 5MINS WHILE LIT CIGARETTES WERE ALL OVER THE CAR! A seatbelt almost killed me! Go f' yourselves. Think you know better than everyone else. Oh how about people who have medical conditions that legally don't have to wear seat belts. Worry about yourselves! WHEN YOU GONE THROUGH WHAT I HAVE, KNOW WHAT I DO, AND PAY MY BILLS AND LIVE MY LIFE, I MIGHT CONSIDER WTF YOU SAY

The last sentence of this quote sums it up perfectly. When the law first went into effect the cops said we'll just give motorists a friendly reminder. We won't be pulling them over for just a seat belt violation. Then the fed. govt. started giving all states with seat belt laws funding for enforcing the law. Thats why you see checkpoints set up with about 15-20 cops, all agencies, looking mainly for seat belt violators and anything else they can come up with. Expired inspections, registration, bald tires. Its just one big money grab for the state. It costs the agencies nothing for the overtime. Thats paid for with the fed. grants from the highway funds. It's just a colossal waste of manpower to check about 400 vehicles for a total of maybe 35-40 violations. Sobriety checkpoints yield even less violators. They'll stop maybe 250 cars and yield maybe 2 or 3 DWIs. Plus a few seat belts and such. They have to justify their jobs.

I wear the seatbelt. But I agree with all the other posters who feel this is a govt. intrusion. My car is registered, inspected and insured. I'm bothering NOBODY by NOT wearing my seatbelt. Over 30 years of driving with no tickets or accidents. That speaks for the kind of driver I am.

Let's not forget about the drunk driver or the kid high on cocaine or other drugs coming down the road. You'll be dead stupid. It's the cops for other people to have to wake up your loved ones And let them know that your dead because you were too stupid to wear your seatbelt. Wear your seatbelt so your loved ones your mother your brother your uncle your aunt your sister your kids don't have to live without a parent. Trust me I lost my father age 8 because he didn't have his seatbelt on. Life sucks without him.

It's more than just the driving while intoxicated arrests. It's called saving someone's life so they don't get in an accident and die. Stop bitching

Apparently you have a problem with reading comprehension. I DO wear my seatbelt but it should be the driver's choice. With your attitude I can only assume you're a cop enforcing the law. Answer this...why is it police are not required to wear their seatbelt when in the patrol vehicle? Do you think it's entirely possible a cop could be involved in a MVA? It's too bad about your father but with emergency vehicles, especially the police, its a question of "Do as I say, not as I do". Now give me your rebuttal how cops are exceptional drivers. I've got my argument set for that. It should be the public's choice and I base that on my own personal driving record.
