Simple question? Who is running the City of Rome?

It's not such a simple question. According to the charter, the Mayor and Common Council run city government. And practically, the department heads run the day-to-day operations. The school board and administration run the school system. And the rest of us run our own lives.

So the answer is either "everyone" or "no one."

Thank's for looking it up Robo-Man. I think Guyinrome was looking for a slightly more enlightened answer, one that actually identifies those pulling the strings of our current city hall tennants. They're easy enough to see if your head's not up a Brown one.

And why do you say that?

Mayor Brown is keeping a tight lid on city spending. That's hardly "spiraling out of control."

Exactly. Rome has a much better future than Utica does too.

Now there's a GOOD slogan for Rome:
"HEY AT LEAST WE'RE NOT UTICA"

Don't worry, woth our new illustrious mayor at the helm Rome will soon look as shitty as Utica and you'll still have to go there or to New Hartford to get anything besides groceries.

I would prefer to have a mayor with a more pro-active approach to city operations that what we have seen with Joe Fusco. After two years in office, nearly every city initiative or project has come to a complete halt. Nothing is progressing.

Now I read that it takes a common counselor and 850 petition signatures to get the mayor to address the Municipal pool that has sat unused since he came into office. A pro-active mayor would have brought the solution to the table, not wait until someone serves it up to him. With two pools to maintain, he could only bat .500?

Get your facts straight. There are five city run pools. It's proactive when he tryed to save the taxpayer money. That pool should remain closed. Stop by during the summer midday and check the attendance. Oh that's right. You were on the school board and liked to waste taxpayers money. And by the way the pool sat unused 2 out of the last three years your former mayor brown was in office. Where were you and the councilor then? The construction didn't start until sept of browns last year. Just an excuse. Stop being so negative. Lets be more proactive.

By the way frank, three of the five pools are in west rome within a one mile radius of each other. But you wouldn't know that because you don't deal with factual information. Get out and see the city it will enlighten you. Good day sir

He is too busy sucking up to his buddy Brown . Francor, you should have looked out for the taxpayers when you were on the board instead of playing Topix knowitall!

This city has gone to hell. Last night a 14 year old got jumped by to blacks for his bike. They followed him several blocks in a car. Then jumped him on N James st between Linden and Locust streets. They punched him in the face several times but didn't get the bike from him because of his friends quick thinking to get help. WTF this is N James st. What is going on?

John, YOU get your facts straight. There are 2 swimming pools. And the first year the pool was closed, it was due to construction at the Kennedy Arena. The construction is long over, yet the mayor did little or nothing to find the means to re-open it.
