Leave their daughter out of this. She has a family of her own now, and I'm sure deals with pain and suffering often. I've known her for years and she never spoke of her parents for a reason. Show some respect. Play detective, but leave her out of it. Her and her children are innocent.
Right on! There is no reason at all to bring her into this. She was an infant and would have no knowledge of anything surrounding what happened to her parents.

Bomber - guess everyone else has found other stuff to add their two cents of "knowledge" to on Topix for now. I wish someone would come forward that has talked to whomever did the actual shooting and set the record straight. I imagine that any one they did tell would probably be afraid that they would be next on the hit list. That's a good reason for keeping quiet but still - I would really like to know. How about you?

You can't sit them out in front of bars. You can have them patrol those areas though. Perry has his police connections and is a snitch so they leave him be. They do the same for Calandra. They know what and who he's doing. If he's back in Rome with no fear of being caught it does make you wonder. Obviously not worried. As for the prior and present murders? Pathetic. Drugs are big money. Once it's possible to get away with a few murders it leads to more.
Maybe not have the cops sit out front of bars - How about once in awhile a cop actually walks into the bars - see what's going on - steps into the men's room and takes a whiff of the air for marihuana smoke - checks id's of anybody who looks under 21 or for that matter - anybody drinking.
Better yet, go back to cops walking a beat in the areas where the night life tends to get a bit out of hand. Time was when the beat cop would stop by all businesses on his rounds. Shake doors on closed ones and go in and sit a while, talk to the owner or bartenders or gas pumper or whomever was there for a few minutes, get a cup of coffee, warm up his feet and then continue on. The beat cops knew their neighborhoods, knew their residents, knew when something wasn't right and had contacts when things got out of hand that would point them in the right direction. At least the cops who actually wanted to do something besides collecting their pay did. Kind of hard to fall asleep while walking around, at least a lot harder then while sitting in a nice warm patrol car parked behind a building.
There is an idea for Grande or whomever the mayor has looking at the Pd for suggestions on making the force more efficient - or at least more responsive to the community.

Who's hit list? Keeping quiet for who? The police know who has the answers. Don't know why they don't ask the ones who know?
I did not mean that anyone was keeping quiet for anybody in particular except friends of those who did this. Hit list - I meant that someone in the know probably would not want to put themselves in a position where friends of the drug dealers or relatives of theirs might want to retaliate against them. There are still some relatives of the Murgas Cordoba group that live in the area and probably other persons who were involved with their drug operation that would not take to kindly to someone coming forward with info that would allow the district attorney or federal attorney to put a case together for the actual murders.

Who are the ones that you think the police should ask? and what info would they have??

One a the victims was my cousin and the girl who found them is a friend of mine. I am amazed at all of your conspiracy theories and disgusted that somr of you have jumped to conclusions and blamed wrong ppl. If you all had done your research you would easily be able to find where the men who did this we caught but police lacked the evidence needed to convict them. Yes they were panamanians yes ones nivkname was strawberry. It was him his brother and his cousin. Several years later they were arrested on drug charges and jakes mom was able to give a victims impact statement. They served their time and were deported. Their daughter is grown now and doesn't remember them. She was 3 when it happened on jan 12th 1995. I am shocked about the accuracy of police buffs details of how jake was shot and ended being found sitting up against the shelves and kelly landed face down. She fought for her life. Id love yo know how you know so many details. We went through hell back then. Please stop spreading the rumors of who did this because you could ruin their lives.

Judge Rejects Life Terms for 3 Cocaine Dealers

Published: December 18, 1998SIGN IN TO E-MAILPRINTThree cocaine dealers have dodged life prison sentences after a Federal judge decided there was insufficient evidence that they were responsible for an unsolved double homicide.Judge Howard Munson of United States District Court denied a request on Tuesday from an assistant United States attorney, Grant Jaquith, to give the three convicted drug dealers stiffer prison sentences based on evidence that they killed a couple, Jason Jacobs and Kelly Coss, over a drug debt in January 1995. The couple were shot execution style in an auto parts store in Rome, N.Y.Instead of life in prison, Judge Munson sentenced Luis Cordoba-Murgas to nearly 22 years in prison for running a family drug ring that sold at least 66 pounds of cocaine in the Rome area from 1991 to 1996. Mr. Cordoba's brother, Raul Cordoba-Murgas, got 12 1/2 years in prison, and their cousin, Luis Todd-Murgas, received a 15 1/2-year sentence.''The Government has catalogued some evidence that defendants were responsible for the homicides,'' but it is not enough, Judge Munson wrote.ADS BY GOOGLEMs. Coss and Mr. Jacobs, both 20, were parents of a girl who is now 7 years old. Mr. Jacobs was working at the auto parts store, and Ms. Coss had just brought him a pizza when they were shot in the head.Mr. Jaquith tried to prove at a hearing two months ago that Luis Cordoba sent his brother and cousin to collect a debt of $3,800 for cocaine that he had sold to Mr. Jacobs. When Mr. Jacobs refused to pay the money out of the store's cash register, Raul Cordoba shot the couple, according to prosecutors. The three men denied any involvement in the slayings. No one has been charged in the homicides.Ms. Coss's mother, Elizabeth Coss, sat in the courtroom with other relatives as the men were sentenced. Mr. Jacobs's mother, Jayne Webster, asked the judge to convey a message to the men.''I wish that, whenever they close their eyes, they see a handsome young man and a beautiful young girl -- Jason and Kelly, the couple they savagely murdered,'' her letter said.''For as long as they live I wish them ill fortune.''Hopefully, she added,''these experiences will range from the mundane, such as a hangnail or toothache, to the bring-you-to-your-knees-type agonies that they have brought to me.''

The Panamanians were arrested later the same year - 1995 - the drug distribution case was pursued headed by DEA and NYSP drug unit with Rome Pd to bring these people to court when the homicide case came up dry again and again. Members of the FBI and, ATF and Immigrations also helped in various aspects of the investigation. It was hoped that one of the lessor involved would turn on the others and give up the actual shooter. They all must have been equally involved since none would give any information on the shooting even though the same ammo used in the shooting was found during searches on warrants related to their coke dealing along with much more evidence indicating that they were involved. It was just that none of the evidence was strong enough to back an arrest and prosecution of any of them for that crime.

Justice was not entirely served with the sentences that these criminals received. They should have been given the max - life.

The other persons named by the various posters on Topix were all lower down the food chain - one of the named persons was arrested since he had been purchasing quantities of drugs throughout the investigation from these people. If he had any concrete information that would have added to the case against Raul, Little Louis, Big Louis or any of the others that ran this gang, he would have given it up to help himself out of the situation he was in.

The case is still open - anyone with any specific information should contact the Oneida County DA's office or the Federal Prosecutors Office in Syracuse. A person with direct knowledge or who had been told directly by any of these persons that they had committed the crime could be the piece of information that gets this rolling again and puts these criminals where they belong. As it was noted in one of the early posts, there is no statute of limitations on murder.

[thank you for your concern. I can remember that morning I found out like iy wad yesterday. I was in total shock. Worse was the media. They twisted things and took pictures of us at the funeral home and cemetary called our house. It was aweful. Our family knew from the start who did it but I feel a shoddy job was done by the p.d. I know my cousin was no angel but they were kids just trying to support their daughter. We know the murderers will nevter be prosecuted for it but are glad they were deported and not in rome anymore. I don't know these other ppl who's names are being tossed around but its clear to us whoever they are or whatever they are or are not into they didn't have anything to do with my cousins murder
